This is was my first reaction. Great for recruiting, but the fanbase that actually shows up doesn't likely care about him or will even remotely like him. The fanbase that doesn't exist does. So It's definitely a play to bring in new fans.

I'm thinking the new fans they are hoping to bring to the event are Wichita State students. That's also perhaps why Shocktoberfest Awards are being announced before the scrimmages.

I wonder how the $10,000 half court shot works. Will there be place to sign up for that and then they pick a name randomly?

ADKS seems genuinely interested in improving student engagement and attendance at athletic events.

This looks to be designed to gain student support. Fill the student section and CKA rocks even if it's not at capacity. It also looks like the culmination of a full week of activity to introduce students to the various athletic teams on campus.

Us "older" fans are either going to go the games or not. There is no reason to marketl to us. This seems likely to be an effort to attract fans other than those who have either attended or not for the last 30 years. Our minds are already made up.

That's the best Shocker Madness for the diehards. It's not an event. It's not something to recruit to. It's not something that attracts new or casual fans.

I don't want to go back into the itinerary to look. Are they going to have athletes from other sports making appearances? It would be a great chance to have all the other sports be represented, signing autographs, mingling with the fans, inviting fans to their games, etc. Maybe have some fun games related to the sports. Pitching with a radar gun and chipping practice golf balls spring to mind as easy ones. Kind of a sports carnival type of thing. Just a rando thought!

Yes they are, sans the carnival games. There will be many sports involved throughout.

I can't stand "gangsta rap", which is so bad it generally turns me off almost totally to the rest of hip-hop, but this video and music is pretty lighthearted and kinda fun. It actually feels like a modern update to old-school lighthearted hip-hop. If that's representative of his overall body of work, I can see it being fun for the younger generations and can even image pogo tapping his feet to it.

Yea, bring in the 'Tap Cappers' or better yet, the 'Air Cap Tappers'... I'm sure the arena floor has been repaired since they made their last visit in the early 90's.
