  • Today in Shockers Sports History: February 8th

For the day, the Shockers are:
    16 and 15

    Regular Season (Games of Interest):
2014 – (#4) WSU Won at Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa 82-73. The only way Wichita State can answer all the questions about its schedule is win every game on it. After finishing its toughest week of the season with two more wins, an undefeated regular season is a real possibility. Tekele Cotton scored 18 points and fourth-ranked Wichita State beat Northern Iowa 82-73 on Saturday night, clearing perhaps its toughest remaining regular-season hurdle. Cleanthony Early had all 16 of his points in the first half for the Shockers (25-0, 12-0 Missouri Valley Conference), who beat second-place Indiana State on the road Wednesday night. They became the first team to open 25-0 since Derrick Rose helped Memphis win its first 26 games in 2007-08. "Going to Indiana State and Northern Iowa back-to-back, that's a chore for anyone, "Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall said. "I challenge anyone that wants to talk about our league or our schedule to take that road trip and come out 2-0. It's a pretty tough thing to do."

2012 – Beat Northern Iowa in Wichita 82-57. Joe Ragland scored 19 points, leading four Wichita State players in double figures, and the Shockers beat Northern Iowa 82-57 Wednesday night. Ragland was 5 of 7 from 3-point range and David Kyles had 16 points, making all five of his shots from the field including four 3-pointers, for Wichita State (21-4, 12-2). The Shockers lead the Missouri Valley race by one game over No. 17 Creighton; they travel to Omaha, Neb., to play the Bluejays on Saturday. Toure Murry scored 12 points and Garrett Stutz had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Wichita State, which never trailed against the Panthers (16-10, 6-8).

1986 – Beat Indiana State in Wichita 77-76

1968 – Won at Saint Louis in St. Louis, Mo. 85-73

18 rebounds, while Kelly Pete had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Shockers.

1952 – Won at Creighton in Omaha, Neb. 66-63
