  • Today in Shockers Sports History: February 5th

For the day, the Shockers are:
    19 and 14

    Regular Season (Games of Interest):
2022 – Beat SMU in Wichita 72-57. Tyson Etienne and Ricky Council each topped 20 points to propel Wichita State past SMU, 72-57, Saturday evening at Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers (12-8, 3-5) won for the third time in four tries after an 0-4 conference start and handed SMU (16-5, 7-2) just its second loss in the last 74 days. WSU used an 18-2 first-half run to build a 32-13 lead after 13 minutes of play. The Shockers led by 16 at halftime and by as many as 21 at the 17:49-mark of the second half.

2014 – (#4) WSU Won at Indiana State in Terre Haute, Indiana 65-58. The Hulman Center had an electric feel to it that was reminiscent of the 1978-79 Dream Season when sellouts were the norm, but Wichita State kept chasing after the Sycamores' record of success from that campaign as the Shockers earned a hard-fought 65-58 victory in front of 9,245 fans. ISU nearly knocked off a nationally-ranked team at home for the second consecutive year. The No. 2/4 Shockers were the highest team to play on the Hulman Center court since Indiana State was No. 1 late in that 78-79 campaign.

    2005 – Beat Indiana State Wichita 67-57

    2000 – Beat Evansville in Wichita 86-75

    1983 – Beat West Texas A&M in Wichita 85-63

1970 – Won at Bradley in Peoria, Ill. 90-70

1946 – Won at Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla. 42-35

1945 – Won at Baker in Baldwin 41-34

1921 – Won at Bethel in Newton 38-22

1907 – Won by Forfeit against Lewis Academy in Wichita. This was the only time WSU was credited with a win or loss in our history.
