  • Today in Shockers Sports History: December 22nd

For the day, the Shockers are:
    19 and 12

    Regular Season (Games of Interest):
2020 - Won at South Florida Tampa, Florida 82-77 (ot). The Shockers (4-2, 2-0 American Athletic Conference) scored first in the extra period on a layup from Craig Porter Jr. with 3:46 remaining and never gave up the advantage. Clarence Jackson had 10 points and seven rebounds for Wichita State.

2015 - Beat Nevada in Wichita 98-69. Ron Baker scored 17 points and Wichita State set a school record with 44 made free throws in a 98-69 victory over Nevada on Tuesday night. The Shockers were 44 of 62 from the stripe (71 percent), including John Robert Simon's record-setting make with 44 seconds left. Wichita State's previous record was 40 -- set in 1967 and 1986.

2012 - Beat Southern Miss 59-51. In another defensive masterpiece against a Southern Miss squad that would go on to post 27 wins, WSU overcame a 12-point second half deficit by limiting the Eagles to four points over the final eight minutes.

2007 - Beat UAB in Wichita 61-52. Phil Thomasson had team highs of 15 points and seven rebounds as Wichita State held off an Alabama-Birmingham rally to win 61-52 Saturday night at Koch Arena. Matt Braeuer added 12 for the Shockers. The game was sold out, but Koch Arena was about 70-percent full due to a winter storm that brought blizzard conditions to Wichita for most of the day. Tipoff was delayed by an hour to allow for safer travel and parking conditions.

1971 - Beat Kansas State in Wichita 69-66 (OT)

    1962 - Beat Louisville in Wichita 81-63
