  • Paul Mills - Don't know if would be the right guy, but I do know the other Summit League fans seem to dislike him, which means he's probably doing something right.

Darian DeVries- Not to excited about either MVC candidate, but would be my choice of those two.

Pat Kelsey - Sounds interesting and would be going back to the Winthrop/CofC well again.

Kellen Sampson - As I have have said before, there is a difference between a regular AC and one who has been groomed to takeover or become a HC elsewhere. If KS is the latter, I'm not opposed to the idea. Has be around the full rebuild of U of H into a national power. No other candidate (sans one) offers that.

Chris Jans - Knows WSU, knows the culture of the program, knows the boosters, knows the city, knows how to win. Would be as close to a slam dunk as possible.

Like others have said, I don't believe you make this move on a whim. ADKS must have a plan laid out to execute and it's all a matter of time until that plan gets revealed.

It doesn't happen a lot and usually it is probably because the coach hears footsteps from the axe man around the corner.

Tubby Smith went from Texas Tech to Memphis. Tubby going from Kentucky to Minnesota is almost the same thing. Dana Altman goes from K-State to Creighton. When Scot Thompson left Rice for WSU, Rice was in a power conference (Southwest.) Steve Alford goes from Iowa to New Mexico. Greg McDermott from Iowa State to Creighton. Thinking, thinking, thinking . . .

Rollie Massimino leaves Villanova for UNLV . . . Lou Henson retires from Illinois after a one-year retirement, returns to New Mexico State. hmmmmm

Frank Haith from Mizzou to Tulsa?

Ricardo Patton from Colorado to Northern Illinois

Gene Bartow from UCLA to UAB

There are several others that retired for a year or two and then went to a non-power conference. Dr. Tom Davis from Iowa to Drake comes to mind.

      I hope this helps.

I think Saal listens to the money. At least definitely considers it. I would bet Murray State boosters wanted Prohm back. Just an uneducated guess.
What's ironic is that Prohm followed up our very own Billy Kennedy in 2011 when Kennedy took the A&M job lol. Here's to hoping it's not Prohm, however I think we can glean from that hire, that ADKS looks at former figures within the program and listens to donors when making a big decision. Which is interesting...not necessarily right or wrong but interesting. Hope we don't end up like Auburn or Texas and listen to the donors TOO much

The fastest way to get our Athletic Department consistently in the black is to field a perennial top-40 caliber team. The surest way to do that? Hire a guy who has done that.

Pay top notch dollar and thrive, or go cheap and don't get the results you want and stay constantly in the red.

          That's the choice.

Maybe Kellen is that 1:20 wunderkind? But there's a 95% chance he's not.

          • Taylor just posted an article about NIL and Armchair. Armchair put out a statement saying support has increased greatly since the announcement of a coaching change. Armchair says they have received 6 figure commitments. This goes along with Saal’s radio interview from 2 weeks ago where he said that NIL was about half way to where he wanted but he expected something significant in the next couple weeks.

Brian Dutcher with SDSU is a first time HC and has done a good job with the Aztecs program. Having said that, he is sort of like Tang at KSU in that he has been an assistant forever and was mostly with Coach Fisher at SDSU and Michigan so he knew the ropes.

                  • If it's Prohm, it moves ADKS very quickly into the "bad hire" quadrant. Thats not only a bad but a lazy hire.

                      100% agree with this.

                        I agree.

                        • If it were Prohm, it would already be announced as Murray State is not playing in a postseason tournament.

                            • Makes you think the boosters were wanting a change to be made.

                                Here's my list in order

                                Jans
                                Chris Mack
                                Turg
                                Forbes
                                Devries

Also - if you listen to the Kelvin Samson interview when they played here - knowing what we now know - you will here a lot of "suck up"
Just saw an interview with Mack and he said, pretty emphatically, that this year isn't the right time to get back into coaching. Someday, maybe. But not for this cycle.

Unfortunately it was ******* interviewing him. But I would probably scratch that one off your list.

Obviously, like he said, you never say never. So I guess it is possible he is just doing coach speak. But I would say doubtful.

If anyone is interested. Be warned, you have to see *******'s ugly mug:
