I love how so many on our board will absolutely, 100% throw unpaid amateur athletes under the bus for every loss while refusing to relegate any blame whatsoever to a head coach making over $1 million dollars a year.

That's also the very same coach that those same people give all of the credit to for the program's success.

I love HCGM, but when you make the bucks...it's on you.

Be careful with your comments 89, because you have never won 300 college games. So you aren't qualified to make this statement (complete sarcasm just in case you don't know).

Thank you seniors, and HCGM. You all poured your blood, sweat, and tears in to four years of entertaining us. You all have "gutted it out" the last four years and I for one appreciate it. Did it end the way we all wanted it to? Nope, of course not. While many of these posts on here are emotional and very personal, take that as evidence of the level you've all gotten our program to. You owe us nothing! We owe you our thanks.

Well look on the bright side, you should take some consolation that Marshall's NCAA record of 1 win and 9 losses in the NCAA should discourage those schools who want to hire him. We had a bad night and came up short. It's not on HCGM. He got these players to perform all year. 7 games out of 33, we came up short. Never blown out in any game. Great players lose ball games. So do GREAT coaches... HCGM is a great coach. Our players were great players throughout their careers... just came up short tonight against a team that too many posters didn't quite respect enough...

Coach has absolutely nothing to apologize for...

I was being serious. Shock Ref, and maybe you' knows a lot about about basketball, I mean A LOT, and the basketball world is suffering without his knowledge being passed along to players and not just us bumpkins on the interweb.

Oh trust me, I was being quite serious as well. A fan board is full of differing opinions, but to qualify a comment with the lameness of yours is mostly funny. Be original. If you don't like a comment, have a dialogue laced with reasonable talking points not "hey kids don't put your hand over that open flame. Father, have you ever done it. No. Well how do you know it's dangerous then?" PLEASE...

I registered just to tell you guys what a helluva game you played. I watched Cal, I watched Iona and you guys showed exactly what kind of team you are. I'm not unhappy about who won because I'm a VCU student, but as a college basketball fan my heart was pounding as that last shot by Stutz flew through the air and that entire game game me the chills. I know you guys aren't happy but you have a lot to be proud of because of your team.

Good job Shockers. I hope going on you'll root for the Rams. Given your colors, it won't be a stretch! :)

I know the negativity is natural because of the loss, but I want to reiterate how proud you guys should be of your players.

I blame myself. I said I wouldn't watch the game, but I broke down and watched parts of it. You just knew when all the 5 seeds won earlier today that we would fulfill the madness and be the 5 seed that got busted. I said the outcome of the game would depend on how well the guys performed against their tenacious D, we know the answer. Bama's pressure D is not VCU's, even though the guys played against this type of D earlier in the season, VCU's rendition is a different monster.

Oh well, at least my bracket is still in good shape. Other than West Virginia, I'm perfect - whooo hoooo!

Ouch... (I just sat on my remote).... If it makes you feel better or important to critique the coach because he makes big bucks, maybe you should join Occupy Shockernet.... Coaches who do what he's done, don't get reprimanded or fired for losing a game like this... If I did believe that you should get a trophy for trying, your's would be in the mail for your post.... I agree. Our team looked too scared and nervous in the first half. It was obvious they had never played in a ncaa tournament game before. VCU with that deep run last year didn't look nervous at all. Once our team calmed down they played much better, unfortunately they dug themselves too deep of a hole. I felt great when we finally took a lead and if the game had gone on a little longer we would have been fine.

Maybe that is on the coach, but I think it is hard to prepare the team for something they have never experienced before. The NIT was very different. The first game was in front of a very friendly, raucous home crowd and there was very little national attention on your back.

I also think maybe the long lay off from the Valley tourney made us a little bit rusty.

Lots of good and some bad, but it boils down to somebody had to lose. I'm pretty sure the HCGM will spend a lot of time analyzing everything he did, said, and thought tonight so that it will help him for next year's dance. High performing people know that the fault always lies with them when they don't have success, and they step back and learn from it. That does not say that there is anything wrong with HCGM, just that as a high performer, he will want to know what he missed, and be better prepared for the next time.

I sure enjoyed the season with all you guys and girls. I'm going to drink now.

BS we should have won and we didnt. Sugar coat it anyway you want. We didnt come to play in the first half. We had them in the 2nd half and choked. Choked.

Whatever. Good season, but underachieved. We shouldbe to the point where we are judged on our performance in the NCAA and we failed. Sorry.

Undersachieved my ***, what do some of you people expect...I mean really....This program is not a UNC, Duke, or KU. I am not saying it cannot get there, but this stuff doesn't happen "overnight" because we "deserved" or "should have" won a game here or there. The last time this team had 3 25 win seasons in a row was...wait let me look....wait...no that can't be...HCGM just did something no other WSU coach has done...3 25 win seasons in a row....
