  • Coaches speak about the transfer portal

It's from The Athletic, so subscription only. But the takeaway is that it has significantly changed recruiting and even led one coach to prohibit post-game handshakes.

That is one sobering piece. Small schools are so screwed. The kids are so screwed. We are so screwed.

Can't build a program with redshirt 4 year players anymore

This is really sad, because that was the way a school like WSU could compete with the one and doners

And as a result, what you get when you tell kids (98% of whom will never play pro ball) that money is more valuable than formal and informal education.

Which given the demographics is very unfortunate and sad.

Not to be a racist asshole, but I'll bet you $1000 to $1 that the inevitable damage that will be done to a largely minority base of student athletes in the form of wasted educational opportunities and minimal professional athletic successes will eventually be blamed on while privilege and their desire to monetize their dark skinned subjects.

                    Any takers?

This is what happens when athletics > education. Taking the student out of student athlete.

Yes, exactly what you get when you say the $100,000 to $200,000 education we are giving you has no value so we need to figure out how to get you some temporary cash that won’t prepare you for the world and will be gone because by God then we will be treating you right.

I sure hope not...but CNN and the likes will most likely perpetuate that angle (lie).
