When the season began I thought we would be pretty good if we got consistent play inside ..Mo and Photo have been a pretty good 1-2 punch at the 5. Pleasant has been a non-factor for the most part and Jackson is just not a polished player, lots of energy but is limited with his ball handling and taking it to the rim. Dexter and Etienne have not produced at the level we need and the point guard position is suspect at best. Going 12 minutes at home without a basket and squandering a big lead is pretty bad in anyone’s book. Until we start hitting open shots and our supposed leaders step up, well we’re in for a long season…

I had a commitment today. I was able to watch pretty much everything right up until early in the second half, when things other than the game got busy for me. At that point TE was 2/4 and the Shox were up by 11. That was before CP went down.
The next time I was able to check in on the game, the Shox were down by 7 and TE was 2/11.

For those wanting to play Pohto at the 4 along with MU at the 5:
Pohto was late getting to campus due to his tourney in Europe and some rules on when international students can arrive on campus. I doubt he's had time to learn two positions.
Around half time I checked the +/-. Pleasant was -8. Jackson was +17, even though he wasn't shooting well. When the second half started I was thinking that perhaps going with the lineup that closed out the first half might have been a good idea.

Pohto's defense is definitely underappreciated. When he's in, you're rarely going to see a big man screen and then get an easy bucket because KP moves his feet well, uses his arms to get big and gets back to his man and in the passing lane quickly. Mo could learn a thing or two there. No, Mo isn't all bad, but he does a poor job recovering from a hedge constantly.
Someone questioned if KP has had time to play the 4. I believe he's done that a few times this season, but not often. Maybe the Arizona game he and Mo played at least a few minutes together. It wasn't much and I may have the wrong game, but I'm quite certain it's happened at least once and it didn't go poorly.
I kind of hope CP doesn't play on Wednesday. I'm not opposed to him getting some extra time off to try and heal and strengthen that ankle as much as possible before conference play. We shouldn't need him to beat Prairie View. Maybe this could get Jenkins some more time while CP recovers.
And as I was afraid of, all of the extra passes and sharing of thr ball was easy when we played a **** opponent like Alcorn, but once we faced better competition the ball started to stick .ore and the selfishness of certain players came back out.
I expect a win on Wednesday. I also don't really expect to take anything positive away from the game as it'd hard to trust any potential changes against a team that should be easily beaten and over matched.
The way we've played so far this year, a .500 conference session may be a success and that makes me absolutely sick. That should be completely unacceptable outside of a season with multiple longterm or season ending injuries to key players. Right now, we have an injury to who appears to be our most important player because he's the only one capable of running the point against decent and above opponents. But injuries aren't what's going to cost this team. Lack of discipline is. Poor BBIQ is. Not having a ****ing leader is.
And if Ty had NBA scouts telling him he needed to show more PG abilities to play in the NBA, jacking up ridiculous ****ing shots and shooting poorly while doing absolutely nothing to make teammates better and regressing on the defensive side of the ball is his idea of working on those things, he'll never even make it in Europe.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
