Alcorn State at Wichita State Game Thread 12-14-21

I watched this game hoping to see an improvement on offense. I was disappointed. They took a step back on the scheme from Sunday, IMO, simply because they ran too much 2k offense and not the motion. Yeah, they obviously didnt need to run the motion to blow them away, and it probably would have been much tighter sticking with motion, but 2k isnt going to cut it in the American. and to the point that they won going away, they should have coasted to the end ahead 20 for 10 minutes, not fight to the end to get to 20.

Udeze was ok tonight, but I thought Pohto had a better overall game. Hit a couple threes, more rebounds and some steals.

Plus KP's */- was a team best +17. Mo's was team low +2.

Probably best game from a team work perspective. Udeze and Photo was a good one-two combo tonight. Get some more muscle on Photo and watch out. Right now he has trouble with physical bigs, but I like his foot work and he has good hands. Council was solid, just a little out of control at times. Point guard play will need to keep improving for us to contend in the AAC. Etienne didn’t really force shots tonight for the most part, he’s just not shooting good. Dex starting to hit some shots, much needed for him and the team. Overall, pretty good effort against an overmatched team.

I thought a lot of good things happened tonight. The mass substitution thing (which I don’t like) worked out so IB rode it the second half.

Alcorn State made some very tough shots to squeeze the spread.

I could nitpick us if I wanted to but we shared the ball, developed more depth, and stepped on the gas when needed. UNT will be a challenge Saturday.

Pretty solid all around game. Glad Coach played the 2nd squad a lot. Keeping the guys happy is important.

Alcorn was...not good, but....
Tyson's last two games had 11 and 10 shots, respectively. I hope his shot selection continues to improve.
Mo with another nice game.
Ricky has a good feel for passing. Still gets out of control but he is really becoming a consistent force on O and not just by scoring.
Good to see Jenkins in some.
