GAME NOTES:
- Wichita State continues its homestand Tuesday night against Alcorn State at Charles Koch Arena.
- The teams have met just one other time. On Nov. 30, 2009, WSU routed the Braves, 87-52. Aaron Ellis led a group of five double-figure scorers with 14 points. WSU forced 19 first-half turnovers and 28 overall.
- WSU improved to 3-0 against 2021 NCAA tournament teams with Saturday's 71-58 victory over Norfolk State. Morris Udeze and Tyson Etienne scored 16-each for the Shockers who tallied a season-high 18 assists on 25 baskets and committed a season-low eight turnovers. Craig Porter Jr. (7) Ricky Council (6) both set career assist highs and combined for just one giveaway.
- ASU is 1-7 against one of the nation's toughest schedules. The Braves open with 16-straight road games -- three of them against 2021 Final Four teams -- before their Jan. 15 home debut against Texas Southern.
- KenPom rates the Shockers 29th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency. 23.2% of opponent possessions end in turnovers (35th nationally). Foes are shooting just 27.3% from three (28th) and less than 40% overall.
- WSU has yet to allow more than 70 points in regulation. The Shockers have held six of their nine opponents under 60 -- something they did just four times all last year.
- Etienne, the preseason AAC player of the year, is the team's top scorer at 15.6 points-per-game. He has 149 career threes heading into his 62nd game. If he connects against ASU he would be the fast Shocker to 150, breaking Landry Shamet's school record by seven games.
- Dexter Dennis reached 150 threes on Saturday. His 151 triples are two shy of David Kyles for ninth on the all-time list and eight back of Shamet for eighth.
- Udeze (10.9 ppg, team-high 5.9 rpg) has scored in double-figures in each of his last four contests and is averaging 15.8 points on 64.9% shooting over that span.
- The Shockers are outscoring opponents by an average of 11.2 points-per-40-minutes with reserve forward Monzy Jackson on the floor. Porter (7.2), Council (7.1) and Dexter Dennis (6.4) have the next-highest totals.
- WSU has won 13-straight at CKA, lasting losing Dec. 12, 2020 to Oklahoma State. The streak is tied for the 10th-longest in the building's 66 seasons.
- Going back 10 years to the Fall of 2011, the Shockers are 63-3 in non-conference regular season games at CKA.
- With Saturday's win, WSU is guaranteed a winning non-conference record for the 23rd consecutive season.
- WSU is 5-0 this year when out-rebounding its opponent and 13-0 overall under Isaac Brown.
