  • Former Head Coach Mark Turgeon steps down as Maryland coach

FHCMT has stepped down as coach from Maryland. Discuss!
Mark Turgeon, who posted a 226-116 record in 10-plus seasons as Maryland men's basketball coach, has stepped down, effective immediately. Danny Manning will serve as the Terps' interim coach.

Mark Turgeon to step down as men's basketball coach at Maryland, after ten seasons, and four NCAA tournament wins.

Wow. That is crazy for someone "at that level" to just step down. Wish him the best. I didn't know that Danny Manning was an assistant there.

Wish him nothing but the best yet - I'm not sure if I share the same beliefs as others, but I hold no ill will toward him. If it wasn't for him getting the program turned around and handing it off to GGG, who knows where it'd be.

Nothing public. He just got an extension through 25-26 back in April.

Very odd. Hopefully more news comes out to shine light on why he’s stepping down.

                          Is this health related perhaps?

Sounds like it may be a mental health issue. Technically, Disgruntled Fan Extremism Syndrome. A relatively common affliction that can cause great distress with those afflicted with it.

I wonder if Maryland will try to replace Mark with the guy who succeeded him at Wichita State.
