KANSAS STATE (4-2) vs WICHITA STATE (6-1)
    SUNDAY DECEMBER 5, 2021 | 5:00 P.M. CT
    WICHITA, KANSAS| INTRUST BANK ARENA
    TV: ESPNU
    RADIO: KEYN 103.7 FM https://www.radio.com/keyn/listen
    SERIES: KSU LEADS SERIES 20-11
LAST MEETING: DECEMBER 10, 2003. MANHATTAN, KS
    WSU 50 - KSU 54
    GAME RECAP:

Jeremiah Massey scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Kansas State rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to beat Wichita State 54-50.

The Wildcats (5-1) overcame poor shooting in the first half and
held on in the final minute to win their second straight over the
    in-state rival Shockers.

Down 53-50 in the final minute, the Shockers missed four
potentially game-tying 3-pointers before Tim Ellis' free throw with 2.8 seconds left sealed the win for the Wildcats.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Wichita State (5-2) led 31-21. But Massey, who was 8-of-12 from the field, scored seven points during a 12-2 run that gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game at 35-34 with 12:06 remaining.

The game stayed close until the end, as Marques Hayden's layup with 48.7 seconds left pushed Kansas State ahead 53-50. But he would go on to miss three free throws, giving the Shockers the chance to tie with a 3-pointer.

Jarrett Hart and Ellis each scored eight points for Kansas
State. Randy Burns led the Shockers with 12.

Wichita State's zone defense had the Wildcats befuddled in the first half. They shot just 26.7 percent and trailed 24-19 at
halftime. Kansas State leads the series 20-11.

Hard to believe it's been 18 years since we've played KSU.

OMG I was just typing this and refreshed and saw yours first. Weird.

Does feel like we owe them a couple of ass beatings though.

For sure. We played them in a secret scrimmage or two at some point 5-10 years ago IIRC.

I predict WSU will either win or lose this game. Either way I will be right.

Are you joking or are you serous? I don't listen to Wichita radio unless the Shocks are playing? So I really want to know.

Perhaps he's thinking if they lose to little ol' Wichita, his job is very much in question.

I should have posted this months ago. I saw Bruce Weber at the Symphony in the Flint Hills in June (which I highly recommend btw) . I thanked him for the four-game series and he brought up his time at SIU. I said, "do you really think that is the same? Those were times when WSU was coming out of the darkest days." He said, "they had some very good teams and we were 8-1 (or something)." I just said, "first of all you are wrong to think this is the same situation and second, good luck with that." It was a polite exchange.

He seemed to think this was was SIU playing Turgeon's first teams.

We shall see. I hope we boat race them, just based on these comments.

You were right. I guess this tell us all what they think about playing the Shocks. It's not a surprise to me. Just that he would say it publicly. Shocks need to come ready to play. Enough of this crap.
