      11/08/21, 8:00am cst

"College basketball season is here, and there’s no better way to get excited about what’s to come than looking ahead to March Madness. Of course, the NCAA tournament is a party that teams get invited based on their résumés, résumés that haven’t begun to be formed yet. So in this preseason edition of Bracket Watch, we’ll use Sports Illustrated's 1–358 rankings to build a seed list and then place the teams according to bracketing principles...."

Even though the calendar has been reminding me for quite a while that the 2021-22 men's college basketball season is fast approaching, it's putting together the annual preseason bracket projection that really makes it feel like the season is here...

YeapI am not surprised. I read this summer the media wants and demands an early NCAA tournament game of Arizona vs Michigan in Vegas. The big media has spoken and time to give the power 5 community what they want. Joe Lurnardi has spoken. He is a God.

Prior to Sunday’s game against Kansas State, I was thinking WSU (NET #66) was in the 9 to 11 seed range for the NCAA Tournament. After the game, I am thinking we are now in the 3-5 seed range in the NIT. With our next four games against:

                        NET and Next Opponents
                        #204 Norfolk State - Dec 11 (Sat)
                        #104 North Texas - Dec 14 (Tue
                        #248 Alcorn State - Dec 18 (Sat)
                        #304 Prairie View - Dec 22 (Wed)

there is not a lot of help to improve our NET during the next three weeks unless we get more efficient on the offensive side of the game.

Won't reappear until we win a lot of conference games including league favorites.

NET is a bit different than RPI. If the Shockers can go out and curbstomp some people in these next few games, that can help their metrics and thus improve their NET ranking a bit. I don’t anticipate any dramatic improvement though. Maybe get back into the top 50-60 before Memphis rolls into town.

I don't think this team has it in them to curbstomp anyone.
