    Snapshot,

I like how you did the grades for the Prouty system. I went ahead and expanded on this and came up with the following:

    Code:
    Grade Rating
      A+ 0.550 or more
      A 0.500 - 0.549
      A- 0.450 - 0.499
      B+ 0.400 - 0.449
      B 0.350 - 0.399
      B- 0.300 - 0.349
      C+ 0.250 - 0.299
      C 0.200 - 0.249
      C- 0.150 - 0.199
      D+ 0.100 - 0.149
      D 0.050 - 0.099
      D- 0.001 - 0.049
      F 0.000 or less
I didn't give an grade of F unless a player had a rating of 0 or less. A player who at least did something in a game and didn't make any mistakes could still have a low rating. For example, a player playing 10 minutes in tonight's game and having one rebound, would have a rating of 0.039.

1979 ... Yes, but to me, you slide the grades down the scale too much. It looks like you adjusted the scale according to what our team is rated instead of vica versa.

Looks like you gave a grade depending on whether you thought that player was an average or good player on our team, instead of how they would rate on a national scale for ALL PLAYERS.

        The .3's should be a C grade, not a B grade.

I based my definition after looking at the ratings for the top players in the whole country for a previous year.

Okay. I never did find out what the top rated player's ratings were. Some of my grades were just guesses, dividing them up evenly from 0 up to 0.5 (or 0.55).

How high do the ratings go? I mentioned that Beasley's was 0.604 for this year. I'll have to see what other top player's ratings are.

Funny, but adding up the individual averages and dividing by number of players yields a team average of .2396, which seems to be a lot closer to reality, than your .37.

How can the team average be higher than the highest individual average we have on the team? (Matt) Does not make sense.

The 0.370 is the team winning percentage which is 10 divided by 27.

I calculated the Prouty Rating for the team for the season and it comes out to 0.337.

                        Team Offensive Efficiency = 0.501
                        Team Total Offense = 0.354
                        Team Possessions Gained = 0.121
                        Team Winning Rating = 0.370

                        Team Prouty Rating = (0.501 + 0.354 + 0.121 + 0.370) / 4 = 0.337

It's pretty amazing how this system parallels and corroborates the anecdotal evidence.
