Well, that wouldn't take much, just making 1 shot would do it, considering these efficiency rates are offensively based.

Now, if you could have the same type formula for Defense, perhaps
recording the following:
1) Blocks
2) Steals
3) How many baskets were scored by opponents you guarded, and whether it was a 3 or a 2.
4) How many fouls you commited.
5) How many FT going against your fouls.
and get a 'Defensively minded' efficiency rating. Then you could take the Offense and Defense efficiency rating together to get overall efficiency rating.
Then you indicate graduating seniors, and cross the bottom of the list up to the number of recruits you want for next year, and it would give you the objective basis for evaluating your players, and deciding who should stay and who should go.
Not a 100%, as some subjective reasoning (1st year player or not) would probably still be there, but it would give you a good base to work with.

It would be nice to have some kind of rating for defense. Maybe I'll do a google search and see what I can find.

I was searching for other type of player ratings and came across the Braves message board where they were using the Prouty rating to rate their players. Since we play them tomorrow, here's the link showing their player ratings:
They're pretty similar to ours. Daniel Ruffin is their top rated player.

If you were handing out Grades based on the Prouty system:
=> .5 = A (outstanding players - always gets it done)
=> .4 = B (good solid players - good scorer)
=> .3 = C (average solid player - average scorer)
=> .2 = D (fair players - needs to improve)
=> .1 = D- (poor players - lots of room for improvement)
< .1 = F (where's the upside?)
(JJ Redick was a .59 for reference's sake)
