I’m not even sure they make those for male drivers anymore.

The way to defeat your enemy is use their own tools against them. Like FAMILY. Coach Marshall treats his players like his own family, and I guarantee you he 100% looks to mentor his players, mold them into the best they can possibly be. Sometimes tough, sometimes not. Like a father. Fathers defend their children. Fathers fight for their children, and you know what? Coaches fight for their players too, one way or another. Coach Marshall will go to war in the tactical room, but also jump in the effin ditch right along with you.
Coach Marshall is the kind of guy that PROMISES to give his players absolutely everything he's got. And given a promise like that from a future HOF coach who has your best interests in mind, would it not be honorable and integral to your success to do the same? We see what has happened to ones that fall away from these values, like honor, integrity, and family. They usually have great trouble at WSU, because people are held accountable to these values. Geez, maybe that's why we've been successful?

And you know what I see these people have in common? They have zero gratitude. ZILCH. No gratitude for the degrees obtained from WSU; or the mentoring of a future HOF coach and the staff to back him up; or even the opportunity to find out that WSU was not for them. You can't ultimately save everybody. Not everybody buys into the values of family, gratitude, honor and integrity. Gregg Marshall does, and it shows.

I am not saying all the people that are complaining have none of these values, but it seems to me they're missing a good dose of a lot of them.

Using Gregg Marshall's values against him like this is possibly the only thing that could take his passion away.

But I see what Gregg represents, and that is a no bs, hard nosed coach that loves his players, the program, the community, and the university. He goes to war for each and every one of his players, like he went to WAR for SM. He coaches where he is LOVED.

I also have zero faith in our current athletic department to get another 15+ year coach. I feel like we just swallow what was going to be an asterisk year in college basketball and use that extended time to get a specialist who goes out and gets us what we need.

But the overriding truth is we as fans are about to get our ego bubble popped. We may have had a top paid coach but we aren’t going to attract that talent. We will have to find talent that will grow into that.

And considering what is happening and the off the court issues with other Marshall coaches, I can’t imagine getting a coach from his coaching tree here. At least right now.

            So what’s next?
First off, I’ve usually/always enjoyed your posts over the years. This one crosses me up.

Just out of curiosity, I have a question.

When you have a had a “crossroads” situation in life where you don’t know how it turns out, you don’t have control, and you don’t have anywhere near complete information, how did you react to it (or maybe more accurately and more importantly, how would you advise a child or someone you care about to react to it)? Do you:

A). Assume the worst, extrapolate all bad/unknown information and ignore possible positive developments
            B) Wait for more information, be patient, and accept the uncertainty knowing that life IS change
            C) Stick your head in the sand and assume it is all lies and everything will turn out fine

            I’ll hang up and listen.

And in regard to other points and how this affects the future quality of the program, this thread should be shut down until/unless there are facts that create a need.

Got dam, people. We live in an innocent until proven guilty society, which is another way of saying that the least competent of us inherently and intrinsically deserve the benefit of the doubt - I’m pretty sure that a guy who performed his job and delivered results at the highest possible level does.

I’ll change my opinion based on future information. Until then...

If everything is true, and if you decide that Coach's position in untenable, and if you can figure out a way to remove him from his job, then you have to fide a replacement. You can't wait until all of that happens before you formulate a plan. somebody gotta keep shaving.

At this stage of an already screwed up season and considering WSU is searching for a new President and who knows whether or not ADDB survives this if WSU finds it necessary to relieve 3G of his duties my guess is they mostly likely appoint Assistant Coach Isaac Brown as interim head coach (unless Coach IB is also implicated which doesn't seem to be the case at this point) and then proceed once the dust settles on this season. Just a heckuva lot of unknowns and uncertainties right now.

Fair enough and I agree. But “you” ain’t us... it’s the AD. And the AD plan would be behind the curtain and not be known to the coach and not potentially negatively impact the program with a public implied potential vote of no confidence

I too literally LOLed when I read that. No way, no how, not happening. I like Kyle too...but no.

Jacobson from UNI? Eh. I suppose that’d make some sense. Not a home run hire...but dude has good success for being in Frostbite Falls. No clue on Montana guy. Beilein would be a splash...but he’d be a 5-7 year guy tops. Probably want a bit younger. But what do I know?

5-7 years would be wonderful to get out of Beilein. Complete confidence he'd leave the program better than he got it (and it's in pretty damn good shape right now)

Two of those choices make sense. The other two, just no. Mafia Rick would also be a big F YOU hire the university could make.

If they do have to hire a new coach, I would hope for Beilien or Pitino. 3-5 year to cap off their careers and then they turn it over to the top Assistant/Associate Head Coach to continue the train a rollin’.

Would it be fair to say: Hiring either of these coaches would require HCGM to be fired with cause (successfully) or at minimum a semi-sweet deal for WSU on a buy-out.
