I've never said anybody is NBA ready except FVV (and several people told me he was too small) and Tekele. Tekele should have got a shot instead of Baker, IMO. I didn't see Reeves making it ... that surprised me until his Senior year. Ricky Council might get a shot. Craig should get a shot after grinding the G league.

Yes, Craig may not be on any boards but his play will speak for itself if he gets a shot in the G League or Summer League.

Also with regard to us thinking so and so is the next NBA player, it’s probably because we’ve had a good run of NBA players come through here in the past 10 years - Gal Mekel, Early, Baker, Murry, Shamet, Reaves, Echenique. That’s not a bad run for a smaller school. As for Etienne, I think he thought he was NBA material more than most on this board. Too short for a shooting guard and we all saw what kind of PG he was.

Okay one more. I realize these wagers are impossible to keep tabs but the casino is open for action on CP NBA futures. Same offer was made on ETN. No dice thus far.

CP > chance than TE. fer sure. If he had one more year in college I think we'd all be talking about 1st Round draft. He's a sniper on the court with very good instincts and vision. Can get up. Good enough defender. Playmaker. Mid-range game. Can run a break. Way above average passer. Checks a lot of boxes. Keeps grinding somewhere next year...would not at all be surprised seeing him 3 years from now as a starter in league. High ceiling.

Most fans of small schools think their star player is possible NBA player. Just like the best player on many teams is the guy deemed ineligible that year. (In the eyes of fans)
NBA is a different breed and like the music industry it takes a bit of luck as well as talent to make it.

But 2 things are certain about CP.
1- great college ball player 2- great and devoted kid.

Always happy to see the shocks have players with his character.

Well said Atxshoxfan. Give him 2-3 years (or sooner). He's a pro.

Go Shockers - Porter Named to All-Conference Third Team

FORT WORTH, Texas -- You can add "all-conference" to the myriad of descriptors used for versatile Wichita State guard Craig Porter Jr.

The Shockers' senior leader/facilitator/rim protector/unicorn/swiss army knife was named Wednesday morning to the American Athletic Conference's third team.

The 6-foot-2 point guard from Terre Haute, Ind. averaged 13.4 points during the regular season and ranked among the league leaders in blocks (2nd, 1.6), assists (5th, 4.5), steals (10th, 1.5), rebounds (12th, 6.3).

Same thought crossed my mind, but there are also a number of good guards in this league on better teams that get the nod. I can't completely argue with that either.

I don't totally disagree, wins matter, but third team still seems low for him.

The AAC 6th Man of the Year, Reggie Chaney of Houston, averaged 2.9 points and 2.6 rebounds. I know he plays hard but come on.
