    21. Houston (23-8). The regular-season co-champion in the American Athletic, the Cougars figure to bring back their top six scorers led by Quentin Grimes and Caleb Mills. Kelvin Sampson's young roster will be grown up in 2020-21.

    24. Oklahoma State (18-14). The Cowboys welcome the nation's top recruit, Cade Cunningham (No. 1 per 247 Sports Composite list) to a roster that will have size and athleticism. Guard Isaac Likekele, the team's second leading scorer, could be an ideal sidekick to Cunningham.

    8. Houston — As Parrish explains, the high ranking for Kelvin Sampson’s squad comes thanks to the expected return of six top scorers from last year. Houston is white hot in the last three years under Sampson, and will be the clear favorite in the AAC barring some surprise roster moves.

    19. Houston: Houston was a top 15 team in KenPom this year, and will likely bring back its top six scorers to pair with Kelvin Sampson’s typical defense.

    16. Houston Cougars: Houston never quite looked as good as the metrics pegged the Cougars, but Kelvin Sampson's team should be more consistent next season. There's a chance all but one starter return, although DeJon Jarreau and Quentin Grimes could have NBA draft decisions to make. If both return -- along with starter Nate Hinton and sixth man extraordinaire Caleb Mills (13.2 PPG) -- Sampson will have the most talented quartet in the AAC by some distance. The Cougars also bring in ESPN 100 prospect Tramon Mark and Idaho transfer Cameron Tyson (13.5 PPG, 42.9% 3PT) to help on the perimeter. They will have to figure out the frontcourt, as there isn't much proven behind Fabian White. It's hard to doubt Sampson at this point, though, as the Cougars have won 83 games the past three seasons and had a top-21 defense all three campaigns.

Way-too-early college basketball rankings for the 2020-2021 season see Villanova, Gonzaga, Baylor, Kentucky and Virginia vying for the top spot.

    Teams of Interest
    23. Houston Cougars
Houston found itself in the Top 25 for most of the second half of the 2019-20 season and they return their top six scorers from a successful 23-8 season. The Cougars won the American Athletic title and figure to be even better with another year of experience under their belts. This looks like a team that could run away with the American next year.

Man that is awesome for Houston. They had a successful season at 23-8. But they don't return their top 6 scorers from last year. I understand that Jarreau is leaving. But no matter, most of their key players are returning and they are good. I also like the pub that Oklahoma State is getting too. I wonder if the Shocks will have enough players to compete with these two? Hmmmmmh?

Seriously. Somebody is clearly on stay at home with nothing to do. I guess its never to early to start the hype train rolling on the B10, B12 and ACC.

But seriously, how many teams are they projecting for next year's NCAA Tourney for the P5?

Is this an April Fools Day joke?

College Basketball Preseason Top 25 - NBC Sports

        By Rob Dauster
        Apr 9, 2020, 8:00 AM EDT

        https://collegebasketball.nbcsports....season-top-25/

        "10. HOUSTON
        GONE: Chris Harris
COMING BACK: Quentin Grimes, Caleb Mills, Marcus Sasser, Fabian White, Justin Forham, Brison Gresham, Cedrick Alley
WAIT AND SEE: DeJon Jarreau, Nate Hinton
NEW FACES: Tramon Mark, Jamal Shead, Kiyron Powell
PROJECTED STARTERS: Marcus Sasser, Caleb Mills, Quentin Grimes, Nate Hinton, Fabian White
We all know that Kelvin Sampson can coach, and he will be bringing back a roster where his top six scorers were all underclassmen from a team that finished top 15 on KenPom. They are going to be loaded in the backcourt — Kansas transfer Quentin Grimes might end up being their third or fourth best guard — and there will be some veterans in their frontcourt. The Cougars look to be the favorite in the American."

Last week, NBC Sports had them at #19. Houston is going to be tough next year.

DI men’s basketball committee announces change to NET in 2020-21

                      MAY 11, 2020
                      NCAA.COM

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee announced a change to the NCAA Evaluation Tool metric, which debuted during the 2018-19 season and replaced the RPI as the primary sorting tool.

"The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee announced that beginning with the 2020-21 season, the NCAA Evaluation Tool will be changed to increase accuracy and simplify it by reducing a five-component metric to just two. The remaining factors include the Team Value Index (TVI), which is a result-based feature that rewards teams for beating quality opponents, particularly away from home, as well as an adjusted net efficiency rating.

The adjusted efficiency is a team’s net efficiency, adjusted for strength of opponent and location (home/away/neutral) across all games played. For example, a given efficiency value (net points per 100 possessions) against stronger opposition rates higher than the same efficiency against lesser opponents and having a certain efficiency on the road rates higher than the same efficiency at home...."

Certainly an improvement, but they just need to move to Wins Above Bubble/Strength of Record for selection purposes and be done with it. It would be a simple change and would reward teams who succeeded appropriately against their schedule.
