Wow -- there's a blast from the past. I hadn't thought of old Jim for years.

Meanwhile, back on point: if even most of the punditry quoted above translates into results on the court, WSU will be set up for much more than just a three year run. They won't likely dominate the American the way they did the Valley toward the end -- the AAC is too much stronger -- but the way 3G and Co. have upped their recruiting game, they could be ready for another long stretch of NCAA appearances, with maybe some more 30-win seasons and nice deep tourney runs (possibly even into April?) along the way.

Top Center in the nation. That's a little much but I still like the sound of it.

It says “a” top center, not “the” top center. That’s certainly not too much.

Not sure the best place to put this, but an interesting all-decade “midmajor” lineup. Let’s just say there are multiple members of last year’s NBA champ on the list.
The squad is led by Ja Moran, Kawhi Leonard and Dougie McBuckets, and there is plenty of firepower coming off the bench.

This brings up a good question...is a subscription to The Athletic worth it? Been mulling it over...

I agree with bighouse. I actually signed up on one of their "50% off" emails, but will gladly re-up at full price when due. Best sports writing around.

Well, W-L record certainly isn't the only thing that matters: level of competition, resources, and integrity are a few others of importance that come to mind. Miller, for example, was known for not letting his black Shocker players, of whom he was an early recruiter, be treated as second-class citizens; and that's worth something too, as are longevity and consistency.

Still, wins definitely do count, and I fully believe Marshall is more likely to climb the list than slide off, even against the tougher competition the AAC brings.
