Teddy is an undersized 4 and that's where he'll play

    No doubt about it.

I guess I'm old school but a pair of FWDs that are 6'4"-6'5" reeks of a Mo. Valley type front court. The Shocks are beyond that.

A big 12 team didn't have any trouble placing a 6'5" player at PF.

    He will and he won’t.

in other words, he will get some time in the rotation at the 4 and some at the 3. I’m sure that the experiment of Dexter at the 2 will occur in the rotation too but until we see him handle that situation, I’m skeptical.

Hopefully practicing shooting and dribbling. Working on basketball skills. I think they can spend too much time on weights (RB) and not enough on skill development sometimes.

I am hopeful that Torres’ shooting returns to JUCO form next year. If (big question mark) it does, he and Fernandes should be a great fit to man the lead guard position. If not, it’s Burton and/or Etienne plus Fernandes.

I think the 2 will be manned by Stevenson and Etienne, with Tyson possibly being an upgrade over Samanae from day one...he’s bigger, stronger, just as quick...similar passer and has the potential to be a better shooter that SHJ (not a real high bar there). Shooting from the guard position stands out as a potentially devastating weakness.

Can anyone play play the 4 other than Teddy? Dexter and Burton at the 3 seems ideal to me. If we have PG issues, then it’s Allen and Dennis Getting all 40 minutes while JB plays some point.

Buckets getting buckets at the 4! Gordon will get valuable but limited minutes backing up Buckets.

Three-headed monster at the 5! Not sure who rides the pine.

If shooting returns towards the mean for our talented and athletic bunch, then it mostly looks like this:

      Torres/Fernandes
      Stevenson/Etienne
      Dennis/Burton
      Allen/Gordon
      Echineque/Midtgaard/+1

Brown or Brown’s replacement fills the 13th spot.
      Livin the dream

Torres will have the 5th most D-1 returning minute on the team next year. More than Midtgaard, Chandler, and even Allen. He played more minutes than Haynes-Jones did as a junior and he played in every game. He averaged 2.5 assists and only 1 TO per game. He was a career 39% 3 point shooter in JUCO. I am betting he averages 20+ MPG next year.

If all 4 of the 5's stay I would like to see either Poor Bear or Udeze red-shirt next year. That would break up the freshmen class and give us a reliable big for the next 4 years.

Just not seeing what many of you see in RT. He didn't start over JB this year and won't next. JB is
MUCH better defensively, bigger, stronger, etc. Now, if one of the freshmen turn out to be better than
JB and take the PG job all the better but I sure don't see it being RT. Also, JB is NOT a small forward.
From what I have seen of TA he is not a small forward either. DD pretty much has that slot tied up
for 30-35 minutes a game with ES probably playing the big guard. I am not at all worried about ES's
perimeter shooting. Those two will be team leaders. If TA can defend and rebound like a PF we will
be a top 40, maybe top 30, team NEXT year providing everyone returns healthy. Add in a surprise
quality grad transfer power forward or one of our freshmen being an immediate standout and who knows.
Also, I have a gut feeling that Tate Busse might make some noise, as well, as a situational shooter and ball handler.

Let's look at some of this. First, it's important to understand what his roll became as the season went along. RT was the primary "PG only" during most of the first half of the season. As Burton came along, he became the backup PG. His roll become more of a "hold the fort" approach.

Comparing the first 19 games to the last 18 games:

            First 19: Minutes played 379 / assists 50 / assists per40 of 5.28 / TO 25 / TOs per40 of 2.64 / A/T of 2.00

            Last 18: Minutes played 183 / assists 40 / assists per40 of 8.74 / TO 12 / TOs per40 of 2.62 / A/T of 3.33

            First 19: Minutes 379 / steals 9 / steals per40 of 0.95 / 48 points / points per40 of 5.07

            Last 19: Minutes 183 / steals 7 / steals per40 of 1.53 / 38 points / points per40 of 8.31

            Lastly, im4wsu 's Plus/Minus comparison is for 1-18 games and 19-34 games:

            1-18: Net/40 -3.0 (-25 points)

            19-34: Net/40 +10.3 (+49 points) That's the largest net/40 of any Shocker. JE 9.4 / ES 9.0 / MM 8.8 / Team 5.7 (+91 points)

His ridiculous turnovers in the last two games cannot be glossed over by those numbers. His minutes were greatly reduced, he couldn't score, and he was still turning the ball over. His forced turnovers late in the Lipscomb game were freshman-level mistakes.

          • JB has far better shooting stats, but other than that, not a whole lot to favor one over the other. RT did not seem to perfo

                Yup! Combo guard galore.

            • If Teddy is as good inside as we are supposing, and if he has the slightest inclination to be a passer as well as a scorer, Jaime and Asbjorn could have a field day.

At WV, 19 assists to 33 turnovers at a rate of 1.8 assists and 3.1 turnovers per 40 minutes. Assists per 40 would rankk 5th best on WSU this season and turnovers tied for 11th best with JB. But Teddy's 3 of 25 from three is better than Ricky's.
