I'm one of the flunkies on trhe statistical bureau but here was this in the Shocker game notes:

***WSU is looking to become just the fourth school to win NIT championships in consecutive appearances after winning it all in 2011. The Shockers' seven-straight NIT wins is tied for the eighth-longest streak in the event's 82-year history.

Not sure where out 8 game streak puts us.

Doesn't TCU have the same streak as WSU? Would be fun to beat them in the final.
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

            Maybe "victories" clearing too.

I'm a little irritated that there aren't enough games left to get to 25 wins. Maybe they could arrange one more game between the NIT and NCAA champions.

Better yet, just have a Final Four of the winners of the NCAA, NIT, CBI, and CIT tournaments.

So the way I understand it the the motto is no longer "Take Markis Home", it's now "End With A Win"!

Also I don't believe that Markis has ever been inside the Garden. Certainly has never played there. Now he gets to end his college career in the arena he grew up idolizing, Keeping his emotions from getting the best of him may be his biggest challenge.

              NOTABLES:

***WSU improved to 8-1 in NIT games under Marshall and 11-11 all-time.

***It's WSU's second NIT semifinal in 13 appearances. The Shockers have won eight-straight NIT contests dating back to their 2011 championship run – tied for the sixth-longest streak in the event's 82-year history.

***In the 40+ years since the tournament expanded to four rounds, WSU is just the sixth team to reach New York with three road wins. The Shockers will look to be the first from that select group to win the championship.

***The Shockers have won six-straight true road games and seven of their last eight after an 0-6 start to the year.

***WSU has won 14 of its last 17 games since Jan. 30 after enduring an 8-11 start.

***WSU leads the all-time series with Indiana, 2-1 (2-0 under Marshall). Both wins have come in postseason matchups.

***WSU's nine blocks tied the school's postseason record, set previously in the 2013 Elite Eight win over Ohio State. Dennis' six blocks were the most ever by a Shocker in an NIT game
              .
***McDuffie's four threes gives him 83 for the year, passing Ron Baker for third on WSU's single-season list. He's also now tied with Landry Shamet for second on the career triples chart.

***Dennis has hit a three-pointer in 16-straight games – most by a Shocker this season and tied for the fifth-longest streak in school history.

***Jamarius Burton handed our four assists. He needs just two more to match Joe Griffin's freshman record (123).

Markis McDuffie scored 21 points, and Wichita State knocked off Indiana, 73-63, to earn a trip to the NIT semifinals in New York.

Looking forward to trying to figure that out myself tonight at eight. Perhaps we just want North Carolina state regardless, to take down another major conference team

Bret Wise currently holds the WSU season field goal % record at .663 (55/83). Asbjorn Midtgaard currently sits at .655 (55/84). Asbjorn now has enough made field goals to qualify for the record book and should be no worse than second as Steve Grayer sits in 3rd at .616. It's gonna be close.

4 of 5 would put Asbjorn at .6629 which would be ever so slightly better than Bret's .6627.

If you factor in the level of competition each faced, how can you help not getting moister than an oyster in your girly parts about Asbjorn's future seasons. My gosh.
