  • Wasn't there a Shox timeout when they were down 8 - right before they started their run?

Marshall mentioned it on the post game too. Maybe he’ll try it more?

Wow. What a huge win. Hope it's momentum building. Really, not a lot a bad today, except some bad shooting from a senior and our lapse in the 2nd half.

We win. It's 65 degrees outside. It's gonna be a great weekend.
Tulsa led 60-52. So the Shocks finished on a 27-8 run.

            • Way to go Shocks! Always feels great beating Tulsa. Was only able to catch bits and pieces of the game but it seemed like it was a great back and forth battle, the way it should be against your rival. So proud our didn’t throw in the towel mentally when Tulsa started punching back in the 2nd half. Our Shocks kept fighting, proud of Duff too, what a game he had.

              • The tremendous effort on the offensive glass in the last 5 minutes was HUGE.

                  Not too shabby.

This team is getting some good experience with close games late. That may pay dividends later. But as has already been alluded to, we need to take the next step on the road.

                  • MY players of the game...............MM and DD. JB another solid game. ES didn't shoot it put played great in all
other areas. JE had a terrible first ten minutes of the 2nd half but finished strong. Great TEAM win. Been down
on MM but when he is ACTIVE he is pretty darned good - he just isn't always active. Maybe his best all around game
this season. One game at a time but we are getting better.

That was the MM of old; getting key put-backs.

                  • Some great stat lines:

                    MM: 27 and 7 on 11-20 FG.
                    JE: 16 and 4, 2 blocks, just 2 fouls
                    JB: 3-4, FG, 2-3 3FG, 6 assists
                    ES: 4 steals 3 assists
                    DD: 11 pts, 4 boards, 3 steals
                    SHJ: 5 boards

                    Team: 13 O-boards, 15 assists, 10 steals, 11 turnovers, 12-14 FTs

                    Not so good:
SHJ and ES a combined 4-19 FG and 1-13 3FG
IPBC: 4 fouls, 0-2 FG, nothing else

We were out-shot 53.2% to 44.6% and still won by double-digits

                    • I thought Stevenson's defense looked better than it did a month ago. He seemed to be quicker with his lateral movement to cut off drivers. Here's hoping it wasn't because Tulsa's perimeter guys were slower than the ones that abused Stevenson a month ago.

                      • Can't argue with Markis as player of the game. Really liked his work on the offensive boards.

But he can't do it alone and despite Samajae having an off-game the young guys provided plenty of support. Samajae did do a pretty good job on Taplan.

I’ve not been a SHJ cheerleader, but his defense has improved tremendously this year... he plays his butt off and that’s part of the reason he’s clanking shots towards the end.

There's no doubt SHJ is absolutely giving it everything he's got. He wasn't good offensively today, but he got after it on D. Early in the year if Markis and Samajae don't play well and score, we don't win. Today, SHJ doesn't score, we give 50%+ shooting, AND we still win. That says something about progress.

                      • After this key win, looking quickly ahead, if we can win at ECU and home to Tulane, 12-11, 5-6 heading to Cincinnati would be EXTREMELY satisfying. We have a decent chance to climb out of the bottom 4 if we continue our current trajectory. That does require road wins at ECU and Tulane at minimum however though.
