  • My math may be a bit off but it looks like we have more than doubled all of the other regions combined. That should say something about basketball here.

I think it has more to do with who is playing at our site compared to other sites. We have players coming in from numerous in-state schools with enormous followings that either won a title or played in a final four for their schools in the last decade or so. The headlining players at other sites are Hakim Warrick, Aaron Craft, Juan Dixon and that's it.

  • Yeah I love college and pro basketball. Basketball season is all year around in Wichita. And I have been done with Major League Baseball for a long time. The sport is boring to me and has no entertainment value. The season is to long, drug issues with players, cost of a hot dog, peanuts and small beer is at least $25.00. Thats riduculous. Fans falling out of the second deck because they are drunk. Heck everytime I switch channels and glimps any of MLB most fans are on their phones. But I do have confidence that Coach Wedge can restore shocker baseball. And then I could watch baseball again.

I spend summer watching shocker basketball games I taped from last season. It's amazing to see the growth in our team from the earlier games to the end of the season. Go Shocks.

    • Frankamp is going to play for the Lakers summer league team. He may not play in Wichita. Probably won’t.

Eagle article also seemingly confirms his continued involvement in TBT.

    • It's amazing the guys who get chances vs. those who don't.

Conner's last game in the NBA Summer League will be on July 10th. Taylor Eldgridge Article on the Subject: ‘I feel like I’m good enough’: WSU’s Conner Frankamp gets shot in NBA Summer League

It will be a busy summer for Frankamp, who will play seven games in 10 days in Sacramento (July 1-3) and Las Vegas (July 5-15), then back in Wichita with the Wichita State alumni team, the Aftershocks, in The Basketball Tournament at Koch Arena from July 25-28.

Frankamp also told the Eagle that he has already signed a contract for the 2019-20 season with the Rethymno Cretan Kings in Greece’s top-tier league, which runs from October to May.

So it appears Conner is still planning on playing with the AfterShocks. :encouragement:

The links to Kansas.com seem to be hit or miss today. Mostly miss, at least for me.

I would expect a pretty brisk pick up in the Wichita Regional sales the week of the tournament and a pretty brisk walk-up business on opening night.

I will be dissappointed it the Wichita Regional doesn't break $100,000 and hopefully well over that. A lot may depend on why kind of marketing effort if any is deployed closer to tournament time.

                  • Baker/VanVliet get the lions share of the press, and rightfully so, but damn Tekele has to be my all time favorite Shocker. He takes the Jackie Chan Carmichael kick to the face, doesn’t react, just lets it simmer, and then throws down the two most vicious dunks I have witnessed. Both against the Red Turds.

Still love thinking about how ISU fans were bitching that it should have been a foul on Tekele.

                  • And later, at home, when Fred throws the inbounds pass up under our basket, I’m thinking there’s no way in hell anyone reaches that and then “BOOM!”
