Markis McDuffie: 26.0% Poss, 111.2 ORtg, 5th in American for players with at least 24% Poss
Jarron Cumberland: 30.5% Poss, 113.4 ORtg, 2nd in American in that category

Not hating on McDuffie, just throwing out some analytics for discussion.
Context matters, Cumberland has 3 other players with higher O-rating. Markis leads the Shocks. The highest usage and best player typically should never ever lead in rating. It means either he isn't taking enough shots (he is, though I won't complain if he takes more) or the supporting cast is truly not even near his level. I cannot overstate how incredible the efficiency and volume Markis is putting up even though the other team knows he's pretty much the only player worth guarding outside the paint.

Furthermore, he is doing this against better competition than Fred, Ron, and Cleanthony ever saw in a regular season.

The list is clearly - Cotton, Vanvleet, Fred, Cleanthony... McDuffie has as strong a case for the fifth spot as anybody else.

This the level of competition as well as every team knowing he is their target puts his performance at another level. History will eventually tell the story. A lot of people on this board forget the talent of the competition compared to the MVC. Keep it going Markis!!!

McD is playing at a completely different level than every single player on the floor against Tulane.

None. You are stuck with an idea about how he should act and what his skill set should be. Try to actually evaluate what he is doing as a power forward. It is insane.

As far as leadership, he is a New Yorker calling it as he sees it. I appreciate it and his style will help all the young teammates over the long run. More so than a rah rah guy that never speaks the truth, but fans often think are great.

He's definitely starting to heat up. Nobody would have ever complained about his game if he simply just made every garbage shot he took. His teammates needed him desperately the first 1/3 of the year as they learned to play the game. Instead MM was concerned with getting himself an NBA contract. I don't blame him I guess... but he will NEVER be mentioned in the same sentence as Fred and Ron in my home.

Where is he on draft boards?

6’8. Rangy. Can score in buckets. Serviceable defender. Why wouldn’t a team be lookingg at that guy?

                      I’ll help you: Intangibles.

I give him credit during the win streak, he has been a better feammate. And that has spread to others. But I fear it was too little to late.

I do predict he has a bright future in Europe.

So, can we put to rest this “Markis isn’t a leader” BS? Dude has delivered and is “leading by example” if there ever was such a thing.

I feel Markis is a leader in scoring and we really need his points, BUT it would be nice to see him acknowledge his team-mates on their assists to a lot of his points, help his players up from the floor, show enthusiasm for their play and etc. He appears to be more interested in his performance and not the team performance. I would like to see him just add the team personality to his offerings and he than be the unquestionable team leader.

He did acknowledge his team mates in his interview to Mike last night. This is a big to do about nothing. Some are focused on finding someone and things to blame. He's a positive interview and I enjoy listening to him just as I enjoy Fred, Ron, and really all of the Shockers who are interviewed by Mike Kennedy.

I’ve been paying extra attention to this since it’s been floated around SN a few times and as I suspected and other posters before me have said, this “McDuffie doesn’t acknowledge or high five teammates” stuff is completely bogus. I’m sorry, not calling you a liar or anything, but it’s just not reality.
