I am a member of the band and though we do have some control of what we play, it ultimately is not our choice whether we play it or not. We are told by the pa or whomever is in charge that we have to play war.

Walker Windham No worries! Thanks to you and your crew for all that you do. Shocker Sound is a big part of what makes the Roundhouse such a wonderful experience. Now if we could only convince the Athletic Department of this fact to cease the recorded songs during the game. Go Shocks!

Thanks for finally adjusting the National Anthem. Keep tweaking it and we might actually be able to sing along.

Cdizzle we all think the original version with the fanfare at the end was a bit extra so we're all glad we stopped doing it.

I don't like the War chant because it's a ripoff of VCU and to me it's really not even that good of a chant. Sidenote: I also cannot figure out for the life of me why we are the only arena in the world who can't really get into Seven Nation Army, it's baffling given the lyrics. Hell we should probably put some effort into singing the appropriate hook.

The war chant may feel like its run its course, but knowing that it conjures up memories of the Final Four run make it special enough to keep around. Having 6K of us singing it in ATL before the game was pretty dang special.

This drives me absolutely nuts! The song literally says "I'm going to Wichita" and we can't get into it. smh
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Not only that I think rest of the hook is great too:
                      I'm going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
                      I'm gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore

When things get old, what was once new and fun is now ho hum or even wears thin. To others who haven't been there it may be new and more fun.

The ads in the last game was extra annoying because a flow was impossible to get. For most of these fringe things, if we win, I have fun. Just Win.

uhh, what's the demographic of the crowd? Now if you want to break out some Perry Como you might be onto something.

That is the main thing for me. Having been there after Gonzaga and the rest of the way, it was pretty special. However, the timing of it during games is absolutely dumb. Game is at hand or over, period. KU doesn't chant Rock Chalk Chickenhawk at the under 12.

Also, I agree with Seven Nation Army, but our crowd has never seemed to get into it when it is played.

The war chant by itself is okay. I don't like that we stole it from VCU (who also probably stole it), and I hate the "Don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff" line. It's basically the cheesy, edited version of a line from "Damn" by Youngbloodz.

As a whole, I don't like it at all. I'd be fine with taking out the "Don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff". Although I will admit, the only time in my life I've participated was in Omaha at the end of the game against KU. Which felt awesome.
