One thing Doc. I'd rather go straight to Matt.

Hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I love Matt as much as the next guy, but John Cooper was a Rhodes Scholar candidate while at WSU and is brilliant, from the area, and already a head coach, and happens to be a HELL of a nice human being.

If he were to be successful at a step up from Tennessee State, we would be fortunate to have him here, because he'd be on EVERYONE'S short list.

I understand, but unless something unforeseen and spectacular happens to Matt, he is in his mid 20s and cutting his teeth and a wide range of experience is only going to help him and he loves WSU with a passion not shared by many. If called home, I have every reason to believe he'll come running.

In a perfect WuDrWu world, Coach Marshall takes us to the promised land until he retires to his palatial estate at Flint Hills National (where they renamed the accommodations the Marshall Cabins) in about 2020 and we name the replacement choice, John Cooper (fresh off a sweet 16 run and COY at George Mason where he replaced a retiring Coach Larranaga in 2015) and John brings on Matt Braeuer as Associate Head Coach.
Not bad, but let me twist this slightly ...

Perry Ellis will still be in the NBA at that time.

As I said before, Texas is a very big state. Are they both from the same area? If so I agree -- if not maybe it's not as big an overlap as it might seem?

Matty B learned under two highly successful D-1 coaches with two different styles. He just may be a good assistant coach some day, if he retained all of that learning.

You forgot that he broke his ankle in the final minute of the NBA championship, when he won it all, in 2019.

Does he really have to have success a step up from TSU? If he gets that one turned around and doing well, which he's well on his way, I'm all for giving him a shot. That is, if he's still there when 3G decides to leave.

Yup. That's what I meant. The window of opportunity will only be open for a small period of time. If successful, his next step would likely be a similar program to WSU and maybe one in C-USA, MWC, or Atl-10. If successful there, I don't see him moving somewhat laterally unless WSU was his ultimate destination job.

I was really just trying to piggy back off of what you said. I love Doc, but I'm not sure he needs to prove more if he gets it done where he's at. And it sounds like he's really getting there.
