      1) Since when is "MVC caliber athletes" a bad thing? I think our conference has held it's own the past decade. As everyone likes to point out (over and over again), our conference has beaten, or taken Kansas to the breaking point, quite a few times the past decade in the NCAA tournament.

      2) One season that's good every 5 years isn't going to help recruiting. Players aren't sitting at home watching the NIT Championship and saying, "Gosh, I really wanna win an NIT championship. For pete's sake, they air it on ESPN2! You can't get better than that!"

Sorry, an NIT Championship is basically only going to help merchandise sales a bit and gave us a little national ESPN pub. That's about it.
I believe any recruit that is even remotely interested in us has paid attention to our NIT run and how well the fans have supported the Shockers throughout. Everything has been positive about this postseason.
Getting "interested" recruits is a whole different story. A guy who's never heard of us changing his mind or adding us to his list because of an NIT Championship is what I was talking about.

I enjoy a writer that isn't afraid to speak his mind. I see a lot of you don't care for Lutz. We have a writer here in Tucson that would make Lutz look like a homer. He would write stuff just to stir it up. He was always trying to yank Lute's chain. More than a bit overboard. Got the feeling he wanted to be bigger than Lute. No chance of that in Tucson.

I talk trash on Lutz quite a bit, but he's very tame in comparison to some other opinion writers across the nation and actually writes quite a few very good articles. I'd take Lutz and his sweatsuits over Jason Whitlock and his man-crush on Jeff George any day of the week.

Suellentrop does a good job. He's not a PR flak for WSU he gives it as straight as he can and I think he generally likes Marshall and WSU. Outside of the bubble in Wichita the Gazette-Journal had an AP blurb on the NIT. About the size of article on a midseason baseball trade including players to be named later and batting helmets. This NIT was big for me as part of Shocker Nation. For the public at large it mattered little to not at all. Suellentrop's comments are colored by the fact that Turgeon parlayed our S16 run into Arbry, Gal and Chris Brown.

If you are looking for anti-shox bias in Paul you need to take a few weeks off until this coaching thing blows over. You are like Jerry Seinfeld's Uncle Leo.

I didn't like seeing the editorial comment about Hamilton being gone and not returning when Coach mentioned on his radio show the same week that the door was open for Jerome. A kid reads this stuff in the paper and he probably is gone. I certainly wouldn't appreciate that if I was the coach.

The Shockwaves post was a disappointment given the achievement last night. How can this tournament title do anything but help recruiting...Jan's said so much this morning on the radio.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think I'm starting to read a little dislike in Suellentrops stuff. Maybe it's time for a different perspective?

Final comment, some people complain about how much a homer Mike Kennedy and Dave Dahl are. What are they supposed to be? If I'm a fan, I want my announcers and media people to be on my side in the trenches during battle. If you're upset that KU got drilled by VCU you probably shouldn't be the assigned writer for WSU. Just my opinion.
You're definitely right.. 100%. But who would take his place? Some other guy that drew straws with the Eagle sports staff to see who gets the WSU assignment?

It's not Lutz's job to be a WSU honk. It is Paul's job to be just exactly that.

I realize that Shockwaves is more of a column / editorial and he can say whatever he wants in that medium and his thoughts are more transparent.

As long as a reporter can keep any bias they have from bleeding over into their coverage of the news.

Again, I would personally enjoy a shocker columnist that bleeds black and gold and has a glass half full mentality rather than the half empty attitude.

Didn't know that Jason Whitlock ended up in Tucson. I learned something new today.

Holy sensitive fans batman! He stated his opinions which are probably close to being facts... I think there is way too much whining about Lutz, but at least I get that he intends to stir the pot and doing so may cause some backlash; crying about Paul is completely idiotic.

Print versions of Kennedy? Just read shocker net and you will find plenty of homers.
