I would feel alot better if I was hearing something about our AD going hard after Marshal to stay...I know it may be happening behind closed doors....but we hear rumors of everything else but silence on that...

How do we know that Marshall hasn't turned them down?

There is a report that NCSt AD hasn't given up on Shaka yet - she might be panicking because she doesn't have a fallback position of Marshall because he has turned her down.

If Smart is being offered well over a million dollars a year to stay at VCU, I'm sure WSU can do the same for Marshall.

And I still don't see two million dollars as being an unbelievable offer as Coach Marshall said, especially with all the things he has going for him right now.

I'm sure he has but Sexton can't offer ACC affiliation.

I thought Marshall would wait for the South Carolina opening but I guess I was wrong. If he takes it I hope (despite the NC fan base ignorance) he is very successful. At least then when Duke or UNC are playing NC state I can actually watch the game and have some sort of rooting interest.

For some reason I don't feel bad at all if he goes. Feel good for him and for the position WSU is in. Last time I was very concerned due to the situation of out going players, the way the season ended, and the loss of recruits who where going to be needed the very next season.

Hopefully he stays but starting to feel more and more like this will be it.

I'm also seeing that Yow perhaps has not given up on Smart. Also talk about nobody wants to work for her. I always thought Gregg might also have that problem.

Interesting that all the comments Doyle's blog regarding Smart and why he should or should not take the NC St job are, to me anyway, all reasons why I would find it puzzling that Marshall would take the job.

Why Smart should take the job: His stock will likely never be higher, he should take advantage of this huge(?) offer as he may be no more than a flash in the pan, grab the money security now as he's young and will find other OK coaching jobs later. None of this applies to Marshall.

We have already heard many opinions why NC St could be a very tough place to succeed at. Top that off with Marshall knowing that he was perhaps not NC St's preferred choice, maybe even behind that "flash in the pan" 33 year old Smart of VCU who shunned them.

You know what I heard was Wichita State was going to offer Bill Self a 40 year contract @ $5 mil a year. Its a done deal.

Gary Parrish from CBS sports seems to be pushing the theory everybody is saying "hell no" because AD Yow is difficult to work with.

I have no doubt that Shaka Smart is their first guy.

I have no doubt he is going to play the game well and get what he can.

I have no doubt that Coach Marshall will not like being 2nd fiddle.

I have no doubt it will probably take about what they offered Shaka Smart to get him.

I have no doubt at this point it looks like Coach Marshall ends up back in Wichita.

I have no doubt that could change.
