  • Weems was contained to a mild roar. However, Leonard and Mallett were solid today.
    Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

    • Got to give our team credit in coming back and nearly pulling the game after the first half debacle. If we can somehow overcome only playing one half, we may be successful in the tournament. if not . . .

        Nothing has really changed. I think we all thought we needed to win three in the Lou anyway. It would have been nice to win today to claim a regular season title but in the big picture it really doesn't matter much.

        We just dug ourselves too big a hole to come back from. We almost pulled it off. I have to give kudos to SWOMO for coming out strong.

        And props to their crowd. That was the best SWOMO crowd that I have ever seen. 11000 hillbillies can create a madhouse afterall.

          MSU = 4 players in double figures
          WSU = 1

            MSU players wanted it more

            • Anyway, the Shockers looked pretty bad.. outhustled and outmanned.. David Kyles going unconcious made it seem closer than it should have been.

              If they don't win the MVC postseason tournament, the NIT might NOT come calling. They have trimmed the fat, so the Shockers might be looking at a CBI home game (yikes) if St Louis doesn't pan out.

              • That's the problem why? No nads coaches or players!

                  The Shox will be in the NIT should they not win in St louis. I don't doubt that one bit. I will be extremely disappointed as well. Regardless I would put my disappointment aside for the NIT game and cheer the Shox on should it come to that.

                    • I don't think we can call these wake up calls. We have been beaten, other than SIU, by better prepared and tougher teams. This team due to coaching preparation or the players' lack of internal toughness,, isn't good enough to win tough games. I don't know enough about basketball to say which.

This team has been so disappointing. Toure Murray should be benched and Kyles should be getting the bulk of the minutes at the 2, and D-Will can't hold on to the ball he should get as few a minutes as possible, just enough to keep Ragland fresh. Murray has digressed since his freshman year, he has no confidence, he makes the most boneheaded mistakes. I would rather see Smith and Kyles in the game. I don't know when I have been so disappointed in a team. All they had to do is take care of business at home and this game would have been meaningless. Murry has no foot speed and it seems like his feet actually never leave the ground. Defenses have eaten him alive this year when he tries to go to the hole.

                        Our trainers need to work with him on that. I hope he gets it together next year and hopefully he won't have to be distracted with playing the point. DWill and Kyles need to really work hard to supplement Ragland as guys who can take the ball to the hole with authority. If they do that, then we will be solid in the back court. The front court will be a huge question mark next year.

                        • Toure always looks like he is apologizing while taking a shot. Just once I want to see him take it to the basket and dunk on someone.

                            we have several guys that don't like contact when going to the basket. One of our biggest problems is lack of toughness to finish a shot. Rags is about the best at doing it.

                              I don't think so. If the Shockers lose their first game in St Lou (which is just as probable as a win, Mike Kennedy), the NIT won't want them. You can't just waltz into the NIT anymore.

                              • Cuonzo Martin vs. Greg Marshall reminds me of Noland Richardson vs. Gene Smithson. Cuonzo seemed to have the "edge" today. Noland frequently had it against Gene, despite our MTXE.
