  • It is worse than the UE loss of last year.

At least the UE loss was on the road and not against a team that just got blasted at home by Drake.

Against a team that all fans are calling for the Coaches head.

Against a team that has zippo guard play and basically threw in the towel for the last two weeks.

    Unbelievably embarrassing. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

        +1

        What else can you say?
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

        • Was every player ill?

Were all the coaches looking to the UNI game?

There is no explanation for what just happened. DOFO could have told you SIU had 3 kids that could hurt us....and we stopped none of them.

Every time we get just a little bit "up", it all comes crashing back down on top of us.

Perhaps now we can just concentrate on what is directly in front of us because absolutely nothing else matters AND we've proven time and time again that we can't focus on multiple fronts at the same time.

          Stunningly disappointing......sickeningly so.

I think this sums it up...

I knew he would not disappoint.

            Nicely done, as usual. 8)

            • This ending reminded me of most of the game. SIU dictated this game as we forced silly shots. 15 turnovers for us and only 6 assists? Hugh? Opportunity was knocking our door clear down and SIU answered instead. We threw the ball around from side to side 30' away and then we would have to force up ugly shots all night long including the last shot of the game. Most of our woes seemed to be between our ears. SIU played with a sense of urgency and confidence and we just seemed confused and perplexed, unable to execute way too often tonight.

SIU had 9 fouls early in the 2nd half, and we chose not to penetrate and work the ball in for easy shots and or 2 free throws that could have been at our disposal like clock work and got them in more foul trouble. It was similar to a twighlight zone episode as they beat us without 2 starters and a 3rd player that did not play. Yikes. Very few of our 10 man rotation were on target tonight which nullified our depth advantage.

Evansville tried to help us by beating N. Iowa. As noted before though, we have to help ourselves first and foremost. We are still tied for first and we still love our Shocks. This is our 3rd Valley loss at home? Hard to believe!!! No time to lick our wounds and sulk. N. Iowa will pulverize us if we play another game like this Sat. night, even without O'Rear. Maybe this wake up call will remind us that opportunity only knocks so many times.

Now we better win out both in the Valley and in St. Louie. Every time we seem to have a chance to make hay, we seem to bail out with a bad loss. Let me reword this. After tonight, if we want to Dance, we have to win the Lou. This accomplishment though would be a first. No matter what, we are behind these Shocks and are hoping for the very best even though we are all very, very, very frustrated right now.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

              • embarrassing is the right word. We showed that we are pretenders tonight.

                • Our choices are to win the next seven games or at least our last game in the tourney. No options now as far as getting into the dance.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Really no need to discuss it further. This says it all, and perfectly so.

If we lost to 10 corpses that were just executed for molesting children, it wouldn't be any more stunning than what we just witnessed.

Just to be sure, we can still win MVC Title outright if we win out?

Yes we can. This loss was tough tonight. It took away our last margin for error.

Now this team has to go out and win the last 5 games on their schedule. If they do that they will be 25-5, out right Valley champs, should have an rpi in the high 30s and they will have some quality wins.

If they can win the last 5 games they will prove they belong. I don't know if they will do it. But I really do believe they are capable of doing it.

Now we will see if they want it badly enough to get it done. It is really frustrating because they just lost the easiest game and will have to come thru with wins in all of the tough games left.

                          • Ill pile on one last time and say that we play 10 guys because we have no starters. There was no leadership tonight by anyone. That was a juco game.

                            • Some of you Sunshine Pumpers fail to realize that as a mid-major program, the Selection Committee is just looking for an excuse to scratch a mid-major off the list. Mids are always skating on thin ice and have very little wiggle room when they screw up. The margin of error is just extremely small and that is the way it is.

When it comes to this team, zero quality wins and one glaring bad loss is not exactly at-large material. Up until tonight, we had the zero bad losses in our back pocket which could not be ignored. Well that was just tossed out like a dirty diaper.

With UNI playing horribly, they are no longer a top 50 RPI potential win. In fact, I think their RPI jumped into the 70's tonight. And if they continue to go downhill, they might finish the season in the 100's as they play us, MO State and Indy St to go which are potential losses. This leaves the VCU and MO State game as our only hope.

It is St. Louis or bust folks.
