Wasn't everyone saying this when we lost to Mo State? And UNI?

Guys, we can still win the Valley. Yes, that probably won't mean much for the NCAA tournament, but you never know. There ARE 68 teams in this year. That's an extra few spots for us to land. We might be in the opening round games, but that's IN the tournament.
Those teams didn't have an RPI of 213. This is a terrible loss.
Our average RPI win was 187. Our average loss is 31. This loss isn't going to kill us as much as you might think. I bet we're still in the top 60 in the RPI after this.
UNtil you look at the bottom half of the sheet. We haven't beaten anybody. Our only hope for the dance was to take care of business against the dregs of D1. This loss will stick out like a sore thumb.
Even after this loss we still wouldn't have beaten anybody. Nothing much has changed. I understand you're upset about this loss, but seriously, we're probably still in the top 55 in RPI. One bad loss isn't going to kill us if we win our remaining games and we crack the top 50. Plus we win the Valley in the process. I'm really tired of all this doom and gloom whenever we lose. We can still win the Valley. We can still crack the top 50 in RPI and we have 2 very good losses. The selection committee might see we had a stumble here, but our average RPI loss is still 35 or higher.
What about our selection sheet impresses you? Nothing. Now they have an excuse. We're just SWOMO 2.0.

        • Mike Kennedy just stated to be an at large team WSU may very well have to win all 5 of their remaining games.

I agree, I also agree with him that they are capable of doing it but they can't do it if they play like they did tonight.

          • No way we get an at-large... shouldn't even be in our thought process. You can't lose 3 games at home in a weak conference and even pray to be in the discussion. 'IF' we win out and make it to the valley title game.... there might be a glimmer of hope, but I think we sealed our fate with this loss. Gotta win the tournament.

Just to be sure, we can still win MVC Title outright if we win out?

                • I'm looking for either SFL or WStateU to do their usual good job of importing funny pictures.

In this case, it would be someone screwing the pooch, because that's what they just did. 8)

Nothing would have impressed me after this loss. In fact, nobody around us in the RPI impresses me. We haven't blown it yet. If we go 23-5 (or whatever the run the table record is) and win the Valley, that's saying something. This isn't the BCS. We can't get knocked out of the at-large talk after one loss if we go 23-5. Even if it's a terrible one.

                          • Terrible 2nd half from the Shockers. They were like deer in the headlights at the end of the game. This team is not as poised as they should be. I could tell they were going to lose with over 6 minutes on the clock.

Nobody did nothing worth mentioning tonight except, maybe, Joe Ragland. Stutz was terrible tonight.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. This loss killed us. Do I hope you're right? You bet I do! Do I hope we can win in StLou? You bet I do!

Do I, deep down in my heart of hearts, think either is possible? No.

I do hold out hope. I hope I am wrong.
