  • This team just doesn't have what it takes to be a championship team. HCGM needs to bring is some players that are winners.

    • I want to hear what our master motivator of a coach has to say in the post game.

      • Yeah, we can still win the Regular season, but unfortunately the NCAA doesn't reward that. Gotta win the tourney. RPI will take a big hit tonight.

Wasn't everyone saying this when we lost to Mo State? And UNI?

Guys, we can still win the Valley. Yes, that probably won't mean much for the NCAA tournament, but you never know. There ARE 68 teams in this year. That's an extra few spots for us to land. We might be in the opening round games, but that's IN the tournament.
Those teams didn't have an RPI of 213. This is a terrible loss.
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

          • No, Toure, the player of the game, cannot be on the floor the final 30 seconds.

              • The positives: Gregg Marshall will still be our coach next year.

curious to know why coach doesnt diagram any plays. the last two minutes during time outs he just yelled and did lots of hand motion. can't he make an attempt at some set pieces.

                        this f&ing blows.

interesting to see how they finish...lot's of danger left on the schedule. could lose all or win all...who knows.

                        • I agree that there probably aren't too many "fair weather" fans reading this board. Living in Texas, it is the only way I can get the good, and sometimes bad, information on the Shockers. Every season, my expectations/hopes are set by two things; the quality of the team, players and coach, and the clean slate that comes with a record of 0-0 as the season starts. Some years, the expectations are lowered pretty quickly as the true quality of the team is revealed. Other years, there is hope until deep in the season until an injury or a loss to CU, SWMST, or NI happens. Then there are the magical years like 2006 when for a whole season, I'm left going wow; these guys are phenomenal.

When the realization sets in for the season that WSU is really just a normal mid-major basketball team with the occasional run at greatness happens, there is kind of a let down. For me, this past loss was that game that told me yeah, this isn't the 2006 team, or a Levingston/Carr team, or an X team. They are just a bunch of really good kids and athletes playing their best while representing WSU. Same with the coach. The guy is good, but good at this level, not good at the Duke or Carolina or KU level, and neither are the Shox. Still love Shocker basketball though!

I wrote that after the previous loss. Average teams lose games like these, and this team is nothing but average. Play to win in St Louis; that will be the WSU dance.

                          • Ironcially enough, Evansville beat UNI tonight to move into the top 100. So while we picked up a loss tonight, we also picked up a top 100 win.

I think if we beat UNI, VCU and SMS we are still okay for an at large bid.

We have just lost all of our margin for error. I always felt like we could lose one more game, I just didn't expect it to be this one.

                            • Shizzle...that was funny in the sense it could be taken as sarcastic, or true, and either way, it makes you laugh. Thanks for the bit of humor in this otherwise "puke" of a night.

                                I hope but I fear it's a pipe dream.
