I've been saying this for years, pal. Great player, nice guy, but it's time for him to pursue the HC opening at Newman.

Just look at the facts. When Scooter left for Charlotte in 1992, we had four CWS appearances in five years. Since, we've had just two -- and they both came in the following four years. Now I know there are other reasons we've slipped, but ask yourself what's different between this staff and the glory days and it's obvious it's the No. 3 spot.

Now I know I'll get ripped by the JT loyalists, and that's fine, but I just feel strongly that this is long overdue. Never happen, though, because of Gene's loyalty to him.

You're right. Nothing new here. We've gone over this for the last couple of years. Someone even did a plot graph that showed we've gone from an above average offensive team to, generally, below average over the last 10 when compared to other programs.

As I've also stated the last couple of years, I feared that this lack of offensive production would eventually affect our recruitment of pitchers. Except for lately, when have we not had an effective bullpen?

Let me be the devil here, but you guys can use the same argument for getting rid of ACBK if you want to. Expecially with the way the bullpen has preformed the past few seasons.

Players in the lineup now were recurited as backups for players who have now departed to the major leagues and were forced into action last year because of late signings, injuries, etc. Why would they be any better this year?

Bottom line, WSU has beaten those teams they were supposed to beat this season, and lost to teams that were supposed to beat them.

This year's team just needs to take it one out at a time. The conference season will get here soon enough.

All the negative vibes aren't helping the team, just letting you vent your anger. This team needs support more now than ever. If they read this crap, and they do, it has to affect their mental game to know everyone here is so supportive, or not.

          JT loyalists
You might as well tell the sun not to rise in the East tomorrow morning, JT is going no where.

He knows where all of the skeletons are buried.

Clean Gene would never run him off.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Imagine the meeting between Gene and ADES in which he asks (or demands, even better) that Gene replace JT. Ponder how that conversation would go for two minutes.

Do you really think Sexton even has the stones to demand anything from Gene? I don't.

These three guys have done a lot for wsu and I thank them for that.
They are now older than dirt and I for one would rather see a new
staff that is younger and hungrier even if they aren't as good or don't
win as many games. I would much rather support a scrappy bunch
of overachievers than what we have right now. Just one mans opinion.

I wonder how the 89 team dealt with some of the ShockerNet negativity surrounding their prospects that season.

Since when has this program gone into any game in which they were supposed to get beat? And since when have we thought, "Can't wait for Valley play to begin so we can get some wins"?

The day this happens will be a very sad day.

Luckily for all concerned, ISASO, I don't believe Al Gore had invented the Internet yet -- it was so long ago he hadn't yet even figured out how to become a zillionaire global warming huckster, flying around the world spewing greenhouse gases.

As a result, Shockernet was still a distant future nightmare, and Wedge and the gang were able to just quietly gather around and sing Kumbaya as they contemplated how to get better.

Oh, and Ricky -- if you're getting your "seat of the pants" feel from Shockernet, watch out. I have a two-year-old the seat of whose pants is less messy than the Shocker baseball forum has been since Long Beach.

So my follow-up question is this...since there was no negativity on ShockerNet in 1989, there was also no unquestioning support for them in 1989 on ShockerNet...does what we say really matter at all?

Eric has the stones to confront GS if need be.

However, it isn not, in any way, the Athletic Director's responsibility to dictate assistant coach issues - unless there is some legal or ethical issue.
