I agree that the outfield hill could really use some upgrades. Under the scoreboard, they should put in a large wooden deck that stretches from the bleachers in the corner to the Coleman Pavilion in left center.

It could have a couple levels and stairs leading up to it, with the lowest level near the fence just so people could sit in a chair and still see the whole field.

Essentially yes. I have been plugging it for years (not just here). It's where the fans want to be and I believe it would return a lot of the character the stadium lost when it was expanded and people were moved so far away from the action.

And yes, facilities and consessions need to be added out there...badly.

With all due respect, we are having difficulty raising the funds for Phase I, let alone Phase II of the Baseball Project.

I think Gene would have loved to start breaking ground this week on the new practice facility, but apparently we have quite a ways to go yet.

ShockerNetters haven't exactly jumped on our fund-raising effort yet.

Only 17 contributors so far. Many thanks to those 17, but if we as fans in general are not willing to step up to the plate with our dollars than our dreams and wishes will remain just that and we will continue to struggle to compete with the Big Boys who are starting to pour money into their baseball programs.

20 days left to kick in on the ShockerNet effort. Every little bit helps. Skip a night out on the town and donate $20 to the cause.

Remembering the matching contributors will boost that by almost half.

Let's not just sit back and expect the other guy to take care of it all.

I've been surprised by the lack of donations myself. Hopefully there's a flood of support over the next couple of weeks as I know we could raise more than the goal we've set. The fact that it's been going on this long and is only now where it's at is kinda sad.

Not everyone has to donate 100+ or whatever. 10 or 20 bucks isn't going to set you back that much.

I'm wondering if the timing is bad with SASO donations due last month and basketball tickets this week??? Maybe, maybe not.

I asked the question earlier and got no response. Just WHERE ARE WE (and I mean totally, not just SN), on donations. How close or far away from goal on Phase I? How much do we have to raise for Phase II? I got a brochure on what they were trying to do for Phase I and II, but don't seem to be able to find it (poor filing system apparently).

Here is the most recent info I am aware of:

WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State University today announced the commitment from the WSU student body for nearly $1.4 million over 10 years in student fees to bring Phase I of the Building Excellence for the Student-Athlete project one step closer to fruition, Director of Athletics Jim Schaus announced today.

After the $1.4 million commitment from the Students over 10 years (perhaps as much accounting slight of hand as anything) we were within $400,000 of completing the $4.6 million Phase I goal.

Phase II will require another $1 million.

More details can be found on goShockers.com

the other night on Genes show he commented that he would be getting in touch with all the major leaguers this off season to try and drum up some more cash. I think you have it right when you say "so close yet so far". Plus I also heard him say that "The Butler" would be donating 10% of its revenues to the cause as well. So we may actually be much closer than most realize. However thats no reason to avoid making a contribution by the 7-1 date posted here. Again 5 bucks isn't much but if a few folks are willing to part with 5 bucks it can add up fast and I encourage everyone to donate whatever they can whether its 5 bones or 1000. come on folks time is running out and we need to get this thing moving and done. The sooner we do the better for the guys and the team as well as the fans.

Bump. Please donate a dollar if you can spare it. Seriously though nobody is asking for a lot... any amount no matter the size would be awesome. We are getting close to the 7-1 deadline.

Why don't half of you donate half of the money you saved by not going to Omaha? We all want to go to Omaha - give the guys the tools to get there. Donate on the front page of shockernet and your donation gets multiplyed by the people who said they would match shockernet donations.

Props go out to the 2 that donated today. Every little bit counts.

I just donated what I made on the two tickets I sold for the Arizona/KC series last weekend (I bought better seats off another season ticketholder for those two games). I also added some more to that amount, which still needs to clear the Paypal e-check waiting period.

I was pulling back after KSU got hit by the tornado a week ago and I got an e-mail for the fund to donate to. I spent much of my college career in the engineering building, which got hit, so I was torn. There is a deadline to this one, while the tornado fund does not. Plus, I have no idea on the progress on the KSU tornado fund, but I do here. I wanted to help you guys hit the goal. WSU baseball is what started me on the path to my enjoyment of baseball (and making myself a better high school player by watching the team), and this is a way to give something back to the program which became part of my life, even when I was attending KSU (it was the main scheduling mechanism on which weekends I went home ;) ).
