  • All it takes is twice as many runs in this inning as we've scored in the previous 17 innings.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    • Announcers just said WSU's 1,2, and 3 hitters are a combined 1 for 22 in the tournament.

      • This conference is a ****-show. 279 RPI team with 12 wins all year is 2-0 in the tournament.

        • Ridiculous loss . . . and to think that I used to enjoy Shocker baseball.

Yeah it's ugly, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dog a team who only had 12 wins because we could easily that team next year. We are going to struggle immensely against the better competition that we are going to face game in and game out next year.

Let's just hope we don't get run ruled tomorrow in our last MVC baseball game.

            • More on WSU's 1, 2 & 3 hitters

Hey Aargh, the announcers were wrong. The 1st 3 hitters in the WSU lineup last night had 3 hits, so they were not 1 for 22 after the 1st 2 games. This is not to say I'm happy about the way the hitters have been hitting! Bohm did drive in the go ahead run in the 1st gamer in the 10th innining on a infield chopper over the pitchers head although he went 0-5 in that game.

Aargh made that post before our final at-bat. Both Jenista and Vickers got meaningless hits in the bottom of the 9th when the game was already over. Our 1-3 hitters were 1 for 22 at that time the announces said it and Aargh posted it. They are now 3 for 25.

Do you miss ADES yet? I remember a LOT of people badmouthed him on this site. Boatright doesn't even seem to be as good as ADES was. At least ADES knew diplomacy and schmoozing. It appears, at least from his comments on HCTB, as if Boatright doesn't have the diplomacy part down very well.....

But it's Sexton's fault we're in this mess to begin with. The contract was absolutely bonkers and makes a very difficult decision for Boatright.

I absolutely agree with that. Don't know what got into him to do that, it was a big mistake.

However, Boatright has not handled the messaging around this situation correctly, based on the articles people have posted here.

I hope the worst case scenario is we have to suffer with HCTB for one more year, at most.

I think it's going to depend on how the finances look after a year in The American. We don't get any NCAA shares next year and we don't get any TV revenue shares until the American's GoR is renewed in 2020. The athletic department is dealing with less revenue and significantly increased expenses.

We might have to stick with Butler and let his contract expire. That would take the baseball program to entirely new depths, but with the facilities we've got, the rebuild shouldn't be insurmountable. It will probably be easier (for the next guy) to recruit players to play in games in Orlando, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, etc. than to have to play in Cedar Falls and Terra Haute.

Cedar Falls doesn't have a college baseball team, but I get your point.

                          • Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'm hoping Boatright knows the AAC is going to be a big step up for baseball, and thinks bringing in a new coach to get pummeled may not be wise. Instead, let Butler take more lumps first year in, indicate the program needs to make changes to be competitive in better conference, and bring in new guy to show we are working to improve.

                            • The biggest issue I have with your statement is "indicate the program needs to make changes to be competitive in better conference". Sorry, but the program needs to make changes to even be competitive in the current (17th ranked) conference.
