Haase misses high then dots a FB outside edge. Then gets a short fly that Ingram almost loses but gets there for out 1.

Rivas up. KB then just misses with a curve a shade high. Freaking lazy fly lands inside the foul line. Tying run on 2nd.

    Come on Aaron!

Houston misses a chance to get to third on a ball in the dirt....will it cost them?

Maybe, Aaron freezes Pendergrass for out 2.

Then gets Burckel to ground out to end the game. Great play by Stewart and Haase picks up his 6th save. Good win Shocks!

Have to win your share of these tight games. Good win Shocks but hopefully bats will awaken yet in this long series. Good quality start for Preston.

Preston struggled early but settled down and was solid after that. Stumpy was nails and Haase good enough late in a game we had to have.

Hopefully Jace is locked in early tonight. Houston is throwing Jaycob Deese who is 2-1 in mostly relief this season. 9 appearances, and 31 hits in 25 innings, opponents hitting over .300 The Cougars are struggling to find a 3rd and 4th starter so they've gone with 2 relief guys today. Henry gave them a great outing, but his stats were MUCH better than Deese's. He does have 20Ks to just 8 walks.

Wallace and Kocis did their jobs in the middle of the line up. Had 4 of the Shocks 6 hits and 2 of the 3 RBI. Shocks received no walks today. Only free pass was Cooper Harris getting hit by a pitch.

Probably a sign of things to come in the American. ECU is about to go 2-0 vs Cincy, and the other 6 teams are tied at 1-1.

After two games what hear it saying is that these two teams are pretty evenly matched. And I think you are right -- Houston in not that great of a team. But they are not a horrible team either. Perhaps that's a good description of the Shocks at this point as well.

The Shocks starting pitching does seem to be stabilizing somewhat. Let' see how these next two games go with the #3 and #4 guys on the mound.

Shocks get doubles from Sigrist and Kocis to break out on top to start the 2nd game. 1-0 Shocks.

Jace gets a fly out then hits a batter and gives a single to Hernandez.

2 on and Jace gets 2 flyouts to get out of a tough spot. 1-0 Shocks after 1.

Jace gets an 8 pitch K, a flyout, Almendarez gets a seeing eye single, then McMillian strikes out swinging to end the inning.

                    1-0 Shocks after 2.

Stewart beats out a bunt and Sigrist gets a 4 pitch walk and the Shocks have something working in the 3rd.

BRUTAL interference call gets the Cougs 2 outs. Blue struggling a bit in this series.

Wallace gets an infield single, 1st and 3rd with 2 gone and Kocis just misses. Flies to right and it remains 1-0 Shocks.

Jace works a quiet 1,2,3 3rd and it remains 1-0.

Everyone tries to hit a HR, and everyone is out. 1-0 Shocks, bottom 4. Game is moving right along, even with a snug strike zone.

You rarely hit them out when that's what you are trying to do.
