C Logan Reidelberger (2021) and RHP Cameron Bye (2020) have also removed mention of their WSU commitments from twitter. No indication on their feeds that they've reopened their recruitment, but it wouldn't be a surprise.

I heard HCEW on the radio discuss the scholarship situation. He said that they were having to clean up the recruiting commitments (his predecessor had accepted more commitments than the program can handle). The program moving forward would no longer over recruit.

Apparently HCTB couldn’t count as well as HCGM

Shockers get a verbal from Chuck Ingram, a 6-0, 200 catcher from Rockhurst HS. On Perfect Game, Ingram is listed as PG9, which means we may need to watch the draft on this guy.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Does anybody know if HCEW is going to allow catchers to call the pitches (the way he did when playing under Gene)?

OregonShocker, catchers will return to calling their own game.

For any others like me who had no idea what the PG rating system was:

PG10 - "Potential very high draft pick and/or Elite level college prospect"
PG9 - "Potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect"
PG8 - "Potential draft pick and/or excellent college prospect"
PG7 - "College prospect, possible future draft pick with development"
        PG6 - "Potential college prospect"
        etc.

Scale goes from PG1 to PG10.

It only goes down to PG1, which did have a description that I found hilarious.

This could be a test for Wedge's recruiting power; but if anyone ought to be attracted to WSU at this point it's a catcher interested in playing for a coach who (a) caught and played at the highest level, both in college and the pros, (b) who managed successfully in MLB, and (c) who allows his catchers to call their own games just like the real professionals do. Hard to imagine a better combination of selling points than those, even setting aside Wedge's personality and leadership abilities, which have to count for something as well.

Unless someone throws a lot of money at the young man two years under Wedge has to be a great mentoring opportunity

Shocks picked up a 2020 commitment from Seth Stroh, a 6-4, 210lb SS from Kearney, NE.
May 2019 assesment from Prep Baseball Report ...

6-foot-4, 210 pound player ran a 6.6 60 yard sprint. Ranked #18 in the Nebraska 2020 rankings. Athletic physical frame. Some stiffness in hands, easy loft power to pull side. Posted a 97 mph exit velocity off a tee. Long arm action in the infield, has carry and accuracy across. Topped out at 82 mph across.

(On the exit velocity: I looked it up, and for high schoolers, average is 75 mph with elite velocity around 90 mph. Many other factors apply, obviously, but that's a plus number.)

Either he had a bad day, improved his mechanics or he's been hitting the Shake Weights.

Out of curiousity, I did a quick look at some of the exit velos for current, former and future players who had stats listed on the PBR and PG sites.

Those sites often just keep the "best" numbers on there. For example. Albrecht 79 was was back in 2016 when he was just finishing his sophomore year in HS.

Shocks get a 2020 verbal from LJ McDonough, a 6-3, 170 lb. RHP from Oklahoma by way of Hutchinson CC. In his freshman year, McDonough had a 6.97 ERA in mostly relief work. He clearly has some stuff, as he struck out 53 in 31 IP, but also allowed 30 hits (including 3 HR) and 25 walks. That trend carried over into the summer, where he struck out 29 in 16 IP, but allowed 13 hits and 16 walks for the Hutchinson Monarchs on his way to an 8.43 ERA.

Kind of hard to get very excited about a guy with those stats.
