Really solid mid week results by our shiny new conference.

ECU 9 Duke 2. ACC leading Duke.

      USF 7 North Florida 1

      Houston 9 Sam Houston 4

      UCONN 14 UMASS-Lowell 7

      UCF 7 Bethune Cookman 1

      Memphis 6 Mississippi State 1

      WSU 8 Central Arkansas 2

      WSU 11 Kansas 0

Sam Houston 8 Houston 3 Just ended.

Tulane was a strike from beating LSU. Leading 7-6 with 2 outs and 2 strikes, Tulane couldn't get the last strike. And the Tigers struck for 3. 9-7 going to the bottom of the 9th.

Home run, walk, wild pitch, double (tie game) ground out, intentional walk, intentional walk. Bases loaded, 1 out. 4 pitch walk, ball game. Tulane 10 LSU 9

      9-1 midweek.

If Cincy can hang on against Xavier, that'd be 10-1. Pretty good stuff.

And those are wins over Boyd ISR (in my order) 23, 147, 179, 57, NA, 73, 107, 102, (57), 176, 31. Not great, but mostly solid competition. And 2 dynamite wins.

10-7 Cincy into the 9th. Tulane threatening the top 100. Cincy wins. 10-1 non con can't hurt anyone's RPI.

      We're 4-0 against the Big12. The #2 ranked Big12. The American passes the PAC12 and sits 4.

        OUCH!

Again, I hate the IBB rule in MLB. Making guys throw out of the zone and then try to get back in it is difficult, and should remain part of the game.

The AAC had an 8-3 mid-week this week.

Cincy apparently ran out of pitching in their 2nd mid-week game this past week. A 24-6 loss to #28 Louisville. But the Bearcats bounced right back to take a 4-3 win over #10 ECU on Friday.

USF gave #1 Florida a good game losing 11-8 on Tuesday before being demolished by the Shocks in a 17-2 run rule game.on Friday.
UCF is hosting #26 Oklahoma this weekend and picked up a 4-3 win to open that series.

Memphis' loss to Tulane puts the Shocks 4-games up on last place Memphis with 5 to play including 3 against each other. The Shocks magic number vs Memphis to clinch a spot in the AAC Tournament is 2. Hopefully, that happens in the next day or 2.

Houston is kind of having the opposite kind of season from the Shocks. They have been very good in conference play but are only 15-12 in the non-con. With their doubleheader sweep at UConn on Friday combined with the USF and ECU losses the Cougars have clinched at least a tie for the AAC regular season title.

      No. 18 UConn 6, Northeastern 5
      No. 28 Louisville 24, Cincinnati 6
      No. 10 ECU 5, UNC Wilmington 4

Big12 is #2 RPI, ACC #3 & American #4. And it’s a razor thin margin. If UCF could sweep OU I think the AAC could hop into the 2 spot.

5 teams in the top 25 RPI. Top 34 Boyd ISR. Houston makes it 6 in the top 51 (#44ISR). Love being in a POW6R conference.

Only the top 8 make the AAC tournament. Those marked have clinched a spot.

Of course. Thank you. So what are WSU's chance for NCAA at-large berth?

100% if they win the AAC tournament
Not projected at this time for an at-large
Would significantly improve if they win their two AAC series.

With Memphis losing to Tulane today 13-2 the magic number for the Shockers to make the tournament vis-a-vis Memphis is 1.

The Shocks are now locked into a sub-.500 conference record if they win their reamining 4 games which is definietly possible but not sure sweeping Memphis will count for a whole lot in terms of at-large consideration.

Lose 1 more AAC game and it's the Shocks probably need to win the AAC Tournament ot advance to NCAA play. And even if they win out they probably can not afford a 2 and que in the tournament.
