  • Tulane Series

If you take away their 13-1 shellacking at the hands of SE Louisiana, Tulane has allowed just 26 runs in their other 12 games. The Green Wave pitch and field well, but don't really hit worth a darn so far. They took 2 of 3 from a decent Ole Miss team last weekend.

The next five games will tell us a lot about how competitive this year's team is. Here's to a weekend of wins, mint juleps, and etouffee.

Sweep = High likelihood that we're legit
Win 2 of 3 = Feeling good about things
Win 1 of 3 = Par for the course; mediocrity is beckoning
Get Swept = KC's theories legitimize; the downward trend continues

The guys need to go down there with a big chip on their shoulders, out to prove something.

    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

They really don't have to hit well, I'm sure our defense will give them plenty of on base opportunities.

Man it's just not this series but next 18 games. I hope there isn't a meltdown if the shox go 9-9 over that time cause I can see it happening pretty easily.

I wasn't aware that our defense was a major problem this year, KC. Hasn't everyone raved about the Grimes-Davidson-Hall-O'Brien core up the middle?

Yes, everyone has been raving about it. I'm just still P.O'd about losing to UTA twice and Grimes chucking the ball with 5 errors over the weekend. His .915 will improve no doubt and one game doesn't make a season, but did I say I'm still pissed at losing to UTA in the manner in which we did.

Anyone hear anything about Erik Harbutz shoulder? Is he going to New Orleans? Could he play this weekend?
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

I agree, the next 5 games will show a lot. You want to be optimistic each year and they are always a quality team, just not an Omaha team. I hope those days aren't gone for good.

As far as I know there is no timetable for his return

Tulane plays on turf, hopefully that helps the D this weekend.
