      Shocker Stats

That is interesting! #1 ranked U of Florida's pitching staff has a combined era of 1.43. They have 65 K's in 63 innings.

#19 ranked WSU's pitching staff has an era of 1.29 including 4 runs they gave up in terrible weather conditions here yesterday. They also have 67 K's in 63 innings.

Just outside the top 25 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll, getting the 26th most votes.

NCBWA's poll is still not released for this week, but here are the updated attendance rankings:

Umm, well, they're 4-3 after dropping two to Belmont and one to Austin Peay. They did salvage game 2 vs. Milwaukee (NOT the Brewers) in an 13-8 11 inning affair.

            Doh!

The Shock's pitching has been great. I would guess that the Gator's sweeps of Boston College and USF and their win over FAU had more "glamour points".

And load-up the "glamor points" for a team that plays 33 home games and only 15 games all season outside the state of Florida. Exactly ZERO non-con road games outside of Florida. Many of their non-Gainesville games are at neutral sites.

This sh]t sickens me. Just like basketball, there needs to be an NCAA mandate to get these teams to play on the road. Either that, or they need to grow some stones.

Or Gene needs to get a dome, lol.

It sucks but its how things work besides that usf, fau, and bc are definitely better comp than und and Niagra. Now when that 8th ACC team who didn't hardly leave home and can't even go .500 in conf is looking for that final spot in regionals, then it usually pisses me off.

Regardless shox have a great schedule this year and just need to win.

Yeah...The Gators don't have to leave the state too much but the Gators do play 18 games against teams in the current Collegiate Baseball top 30.

                      An interesting point....

But if you have access to quality opposition in the conference and good competition available in OOC within the state, why travel out of state for OOC?

If your SOS will be high enough, why travel for travel's sake. I can think of no reason.

That's fine, but then they should be hammered in the RPI, and maybe they are. Home wins should be worth less than road ones and they absolutely have to use common sense when playing a game at a neutral site like LDS.

Teams just shouldn't be rewarded for playing all their games at home.

15-0 at home should be valued the same as 10-5 on the road, given the same competition and so should 8-7 if the schedule is a lot better.

That's what the advantage is if you are 8-7 in conference.

From what I've read...the RPI does favor "power conferences"...

"but in a nutshell, 75% of the RPI is a measure of strength of schedule (your opponents' win percentage, and your opponents' opponents' winning percentage), which may or may not tell you the quality of a team. The RPI provides a strong measure of very good teams from better conferences. Its weakness is making meaningful distinctions between teams who are "on the bubble" come NCAA Tournament selection time.

Because the RPI emphasizes who you played over how you performed, weaker teams in the major conferences benefit while strong teams in weaker conferences appear less worthy of inclusion in the tournament."
