It should but her attorney points out that she did not take a cut of the extra fee for the service provided and that her daughters and others had the option to decline arguing that this does not qualify as pimping under the law. However, all this talk of what should happen to the Madam and her associates obscures the real issue.

Who did what and who knew what and when did they know it and have they lied about it. Somebody appears to be lying. If the Madam has made all of this up then she and the publisher of the story would be facing a nasty slander lawsuit which would dwarf any prostitution charges that might be brought (which probably won't happen).

I think there are too many players/recruits coming forward to think that something was not happening. And as someone said last night on one of the sports shows...It's Rick Pitino. He always knows.

That would seem to be referring to the coaches, players, staff, etc. during the time period of the alleged improprieties. Furthermore, how would Pitino know that not one person knew anything about it? If he has that kind of insight into what is going on then it is hard to believe that he did not know about it.

I think it is very possible Pitino did not know what was going on but he hasn't helped his case with some of his public statements.
Well it still doesn't make sense when interpreted like that because it's players coming forward in the first place (and recruits) about a former assistant. He certainly knew that at the time he was quoted. So it's like he had a meeting with his current staff and players and that's what he is referring to, which is the only way I could make sense of it. It's not likely that he called a large meeting of former staffers and players, but very likely he called an immediate meeting of all current staffers and players to try and figure out who knew what.

I think it's even more likely that he didn't call any meetings and just said whatever the hell he thought would make him look innocent at the time.

Now that there are reports of 5 former players Pitino has changed his tune a little bit saying that Andre McGee needs to step forward and tell the truth. It is definitely a possibility that Pitino was unaware or perhaps had signaled to McGee that he needed plausible deniability and did not want to know what McGee was going. But unfortunately for Rick he was the man in charge and needed to make it clear to the people under his charge that such actions were unacceptable in his program. The man at the top generally sets the tone for his program although he can't insure he won't have a rogue subordinate.

Or he picked the guy to whom he can write a check to take the fall.

Not out of the realm of possibilities either although I doubt you will find any transfer of monies directly from Pitino to anyone involved. If Ms. Powell was really out to make some big bucks on this deal I would have thought her first move would be to try to blackmail the deep-pocketed Pitino. Maybe she did and didn't go along thinking he could survive the public disclosures. Hard to know whether we are ever getting the whole story on these deals.

I'm certain we are not getting the whole story. It doesn't help when most of the interested media would rather blindly defend Pitino than actually partake in real journalism.

I don't know how the of consent works everywhere, but in some states I do believe things like prostitution are beyond simple age of consent. Photographing nude, for instance, cannot be consentual until 18. You cannot do pornography anywhere, until 18. I would think that this type of thing would follow under laws that prohibit child porn/ human trafficking for sex.

I could be wrong, maybe you can whore out kids in Kentucky, but it makes you wonder.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Pitino is dirty. Plain and simple. He always has been. What makes anyone think he would clean up when he got to the Lou? Kind of like all the UK sympathizers will bemoan Calipari when the program is investigated a year or two after he moves on. A zebra can't change his stripes.

I keep thinking something very similar to this happened at Colorado with the football team. Did I dream that up? I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere as an example to this story, but I remember the coach getting canned and then hired at Washington(?).

McGee was a graduate assistant right? In the recently released contract for Marshall, I'm too lazy to go back and look, but I believe it had a provision that included $30,000 for a similar position. I'm sure McGee was in no position to fund these parties on his own dime. He either is innocent or was getting funding from another person in the program. Perhaps he was getting funding from an outside person (booster), but it's incredibly hard for me to believe McGee would be the only guy in the program with knowledge of the parties. Even if he was, it's still a gross violation.

Real journalism? You must be as old as I am if you can remember that.
