Maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention (big surprise), but wasn't Larry Brown basically hit with a "lack of control"? Meaning that he had not taken the proper steps needed to be able to oversee the workings of the SMU program, thus, his lack of knowledge to control the program led to the problem. What people within his staff knew, or was doing, he should have known.

I'm not seeing that much departure from the SMU situation to that of UNC or Louisville except that both their problems should be considered larger and including more student athletes.

Yes, Pitino faces penalties even if he "didn't know." Most likely, a lack of control penalty would be far less punitive than penalties for covering it up or merely choosing to look the other way, so for sure he's going to play dumb.

Just because UL's official record might be changed to 0-0 doesn't automatically mean the NCAA will change the records of those they beat. How were the records altered of teams who played Memphis back in whatever year they had wins vacated?
