    • I just winder what D-2 program Missouri State has scheduled for next year's white out. If they moved it back to week three or four, they could also schedule it as their homecoming.

And that just proves he's the "right guy". He'll win Missourians over from St. Louis to Columbia! From the great river on the east to the Ozark Sea! All along I-70, they will be singing his name! They will be shouting MSU'S fight song on all borders and beyond! The Show Me State doesn’t need to be showed! The flock will follow in an dervish of faith! MSU football will RISE agai -- urrr -- finally! HE'S THE RIGHT MAN!!

I wasn't at the game, John. I no longer live in SW Missouri and I opted to do other things this past weekend. I certainly wish I would be able to attend every MSU sporting event but I have to pick and choose now. As I understand it the weather was particularly poor in SW Missouri this past weekend and with the W-L of the football team it is not surprising that the attendance was sparse.

I keep clicking on this thread and responding and I regret it each time. It is hard to sit by idly when there is such egregious inaccuracies here. The reading comprehension skills of a sizable chunk of this board really leaves much to be desired frankly. I never said that Missouri State was Coach Stec's dream job, I said that it was his dream to be a D-1 head coach and we were fortunate enough to have an opening when he was at the right point for him to leave Columbia. Secondly this C-USA crap is ridiculous. This stuff about polos, envelopes, and helicopters is straight out of your imagination. I still wouldn't consider it your greatest fabricated tale, but it ranks in the top 5 at the very least.

Finally, the fact that a 12 page thread about the Missouri State football program exists on a Wichita State forum is evidence that even at our worst athletically, that we still occupy a good chunk of real estate in WSU fan's brain. Make no mistake, I have tremendous respect for Wichita State and the people on this board. I really enjoy shockernet. But obsession noted.

I'm not going to pile on anymore, because it's gotten boring and the men's basketball season is about to begin. But certainly you now understand that the right man for the job HAS to turn your program into a winner FIRST and FOREMOST before any other great accomplishment like being the catalyst for conference change can even be discussed? If you aren't willing to see and/or admit that, you will continue to be mocked relentlessly in this thread. Get a top notch coach that turns your program around into a juggernaut at the level it's at, and only then come back and discuss conference upgrade potential.

Until then just ***** and moan about your university's situation like we did in the 90's and have faith that it will get better some day.

              1. This thread exists because it's fun and easy.
              2. Missouri State fans are that deluded.
              3. Do you really want me to dig up the quotes about secret meetings? Envelopes?
              4. This thread exists not to obsess, but to mock. Nothing to note.
              5. This thread just might have died if we couldn't count on you to be so easy to goad into a reply.
              6. You make dofo look like a genius.

              • One thing you can say about MSU Football is that there is a very strong possibility that they will be better next year (how could they not be). So Casey and his MSU brethren do have that to look forward to. Of course, they could be much improved next year and still be a run-of-the-mill FCS team.

If they ever do get good enough to attract interest from the SBC and that is what they want then more power to them. If WSU had continued our moribund football program there is a good chance we would have had to accept a generally lower competitive level in our overall athletic program as well. But who knows maybe MSU can make it work in the long run. However, they have a lot of work to do just to become relevant at the FCS level let alone draw any serious interest from a conference that plays FBS football (even the SBC which is at the very bottom of the FBS Conference power rankings).

                • I just want to throw in my two cents that I participate in keeping this thread alive because I miss having a rivalry with the Bears. I wouldn't call it an obsession on my end, but more along the lines of a forlorn, nostalgic attempt at pretending there is anything to talk about regarding Missouri State. They occupy a chunk of real estate in my mind because they are our only natural geographical rival now and they are competing at a d-2 level in two really major sports. Yeah, it's funny, but for an MVC fan, it's more sad than anything. I have to find ways to laugh, and that's why I keep it going... I am no more obsessed with MoST than I am with Drake, other than the proximity to our campus.

Speaking of the Geese, MoST ought to get their football team on the schedule. That might be a really competitive game.

Drake wiuld win. My nephew played for Drake, ask DUBulldog. Since then, I've kept track of the Bulldogs passively. They are a middle of the road Pioneer League team. Even with no scholarships, they are better than the Bears.

And Drake's stadium is way, way cooler.

                      • I would like to see an Intramural squad of Wichita State athletes against the Bears.

I'm not saying we would win, but we wouldn't suck.

Wait a second. The only reason this thread has gotten the traction it has is because of you and your little missing douchecanoe jtaylor getting on here and spreading your outlandish fantasies for everyone to see. Did you forget how post-heavy the two of you were at the beginning of the season? After the Chadron State masterpiece, you guys started to fade... But you better believe this thread was gonna keep going after you two begged for it a couple months ago.

Obsession noted? I hope you were referring to yourself in the third person because this is a Shocker message board. We can talk about whatever we want. It is YOU that is HERE. Nobody forces a BARE fan to become engrossed on a WSU message board. It is your choice, your option, your obsession.

So Casey, your obsession is definitely noted.

A late TD drive sinks the Bares. I think it would absolutely be a fun game to watch, intramurally speaking.

                              • Looking at their message board, dem Bare fans are really excited about the new ribbon board coming into their arena. It's the final piece to the puzzle that's gonna draw fans in from Little Rock, Arkansas to Kansas City, Missouri and reel in the 5-star recruits.

                                Welcome to 2005 Bare fans.
