Not to completely disagree with you, but I think the personalities of Marshall and Martin are in different universes. Marshall doesn't have anywhere near the negatives that Martin has in my eyes. Just to name one, I've never seen Marshall berating his players on the court. Martin?

I agree that Marshall wouldn't fit well with their AD, from what I've heard. But I've always thought that Martin was an utter slimeball, and while I do believe that Marshall could be called a bit of a "narcissistic control-freak hot-head," I don't think he's even close to Martin in that regard. Maybe just because you can throw "slimeball" on to Martin's, but not Marshall's description.

I think this is good for K-State, personally. Martin was a decent enough coach, but that man was also a ticking NCAA violation timebomb. It was only a matter of time until K-State was going to get utterly hammered with him at the helm. There's plenty of coaches out there that can get the same (minor) level of success that he had without walking the line that Martin walks.

As for the K-State fan that was worried about getting a big name coach to get recruits to Manhattan ... it's a lot easier when you just hire people around them to BS jobs to get them to come to your school. If Martin can do it, anyone can.

The abyss welcomes back KSU with open arms. This will only help our recruiting.

I have no desire to stir the hornets nest, but seriously? If you haven't seen that, you aren't paying very close attention.

Coach Marshall is a disciplinarian, for a variety of reasons, and if you are paying close attention, you'll see, up close and personal at times, the toughness he exudes.

I agree with the good Doctor here. I will never forget at Shocker Madness this year GS was out hustled by Wessel I believe for a loose rebound during the scrimmage. There was a stoppage of some sort and as the players walked to the bench 3G got in GS's face. I was across the arena and halfway up and I heard him clear as day. I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley, slicked hair and pressed suit or not : )

In all seriousness, he expects a ton out of anyone who is around him, and why shouldn't he?
"Ralph Miller was one of the finest coaches in the history of intercollegiate basketball. His teams were always fundamentally sound, team oriented, well conditioned, and ran both their offense and defense with great patience. I know of no coach whose teams competed against his, whether it be at Wichita State, Iowa, or Oregon State, who did not have great respect for him."—John Wooden

I think that you can be tough and still have class......IMO, that's the difference between 3G and FM

I remember that. Also that wasn't the only time I heard GM yelling at a player, and I was sitting across the Arena as well. When EO got 6 fouls in what was something like 5 minutes, Marshall just stopped yelling after #4 and just started shaking his head.

Frank Martin was the best coach that K-State basketball has seen in years. It's going to be tough for K-State to hire a coach like Martin, especially since Currie has a bad connection with a lot of the coaches there. The best thing for K-State is to get rid of Currie... quick! As for the whole ineligbile situation, Currie is at fault for that. A good AD would have notified Frank Martin and Jamar Samuels ahead of time, instead of jut making the decision on his own. Martin should have been involved, and it was a slap in the face because he wasn't. I don't blame Martin a bit for bolting to South Carolina.

How do you know this is the entire story and there are not other, more serious issues with Frank?

On the k state board there are several that are voicing concern about the ncaa looking into the recent transgression and finding more.

Calipari v2.0? Recruiting violations, switch schools, let the university take the heat, be successful at new program, leave again before new violations catch up.

Will be interesting to see the fall out from this debacle. I wonder if there will ever be any good information on it, or if it will just all be swept under the rug?

Are they paying his buyout also? How many years?

Does anybody really believe that this was the only time in his entire career that Samuels took money????

K-State AD Currie made no effort to keep Martin at KSU.
