Coaches on the Hot Seat

Tubby to Tulsa is the hot rumor here in Oklahoma tonight.

That's a little surprising.

Found an old article from Hoosier Hoopla date July 2010 listing these salaries:

Here is, in order, the annual salary of all the Big Ten basketball coaches for next season: Izzo, Ohio State’s Thad Matta ($2.4 million), Crean, Minnesota’s Tubby Smith ($1.8 million), Michigan’s John Beilein ($1.6 million), Illinois’ Bruce Weber ($1.5 million), Wisconsin’s Bo Ryan ($1.5 million), Purdue’s Matt Painter ($1.325 million), Iowa’s Fran McCaffery ($1.1 million), Northwestern’s Bill Carmody ($1.1 million) and DeChellis.

Of course, Weber's salary was listed higher than has been previously reported here. Nevertheless, I'd be surprised if Tubby would come down a whole lot from his current salary or that Tulsa would match his current one.

Miles' numbers aren't anything worth fawning over. He recently finished his fifth year in Fort Collins, currently holding a 71-88 record with the Rams. He's gone 28-50 in Mountain West Conference play over that half decade.

You can put lipstick on Nebraska basketball and say it's an attractive job for all of college hoops to sit up and take notice. But the bottom line is, coaches see through the lipstick. And, frankly, there are amenities everywhere. As good as the toys are in Lincoln, you're not really showing anybody anything new. That is, anybody who is anywhere or can go anywhere.
