I haven't kept up on any of this for awhile and the Big10 has seemed pretty content and many thought that they wouldn't move unless it was with ND. But with them off the table, I could see them acting and Rutgers would be a great choice as it puts the B10 in the NYC market. I could definitely see the ACC moving to take UCONN then. Especially since it would help keep the XII out of the NYC area should they look to expand. I do think that UMass would definitely be an option for the BE. Outside of that, I don't know who their second would be. I doubt that they'd look to add a non-football school though which would seem to protect the A10 as I don't think they really have any other football members. I think it'd be more likely for the BE to look towards a Tulsa or someone like that. Solid program that helps some of the more western full members. Or maybe the finally invite ECU to bring back a more eastern feel.
I love the dreaming as I'd much rather be in the A10 than the MVC, but I don't think this move would do that.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Pretty much agree, but I need to cling to hope that we'll climb out of this cesspool one day.
I do think a UMass departure would be the one scenario that gives us hope. There aren't a ton of scenarios where they look to replace a public school and we're their best option from a quality standpoint (obviously not geographically). You could almost envision them giving some p.o.s. university like Fordham the boot in that case and sending them off to the Patriot League (which they seem to hint at joining every dang offseason) to make room for Creighton.
Still dreaming I know.

Trust me, I have plenty of dream scenarios in this thread and others. Sadly, I think the A10 is a long shot as we're quite a ways away. Creighton is at least a private with some connections within the conference but even they face geographic issues.
I honestly think our best shot at a new conference would to one day have football. But that seems like a long shot so I think we're just going to have to enjoy what we can while we can and live with this cesspool as it's only going to get worse. Illinois State will leave within 10 years. I could see Bradley getting an eventual invite to the A10 before us. If MSU ever gets their financials in order, they could take their football and move. A few months back there were some rumors of UNI looking into moving up as well for football. I'm still convinced that Creighton will eventually find their way out, perhaps with Bradley to the A10 at some point.
If/when all that happens, it's us, Drake, Evansville, SIU and ISUb. Odds are the dumbass in STL would add ORU, Little Rock, UMKC and UN-Omaha to replace them. SIU may even move to the OVC if all that went down as the MVFC would be done. Maybe ISUb too. They're replaced with Chicago State and SEMO. Not attractive at all.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Or maybe the conference fires Elgin and hires a guy who believes the MVC has far to much tradition to be a second or third tier conference. Maybe he believes the MVC can once again be the Valley Of Death. So he hands down an edict to all members; GET BIG! GET STRONG! OR GET THE HELL OUT! He then begins talks with a few select basketball only schools. Tells the A-10 to go pound sand, I'm takin the best you got. Brokers a multi year, multi hundreds of millions of dollors deal with CBS to become the exclusive home of The MVC Valley Of Death basketball Network which makes the Big East look like just another Division II Conference.

***REALITY ENDS HERE; EVERYTHING BELOW IS GOSHOCKERS89 DREAMING***
This would leave the Big East looking to replace 2 teams. Logically, they'd look to rape the A-10 again and take perhaps UMass (newly FBS football) and some other non-football school (Xavier?).
This would leave the A-10 looking to replace a couple. Shockers and Bluejays finally tell Elgin to go suck a bag of d's and bolt to the A-10. Evansville drops to D2. Missouri State goes to the Big South. MVC implodes.
Life is excellent.

Will be interesting to see what the ACC and the BE do after this. The ACC will definitely be adding someone, most likely UConn. The BE is the real question mark here. Some seem to believe they still want to land some football only types out West. I still think AFA will say no and I'm not sure the BE will agree to the terms that BYU would have. Those, in the past, were the top targets. I think the BE stays east of the Rockies and maybe even east of the Mississippi. I may have to go back to the board I used to scope all the time and see if there are any fresh rumors going around now.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

It will be interesting to see what ADES does. Isn't the CU President from A-10 country and supports a move for CU to the A-10? If they go, where does that leave WSU.
I agree with Ripemupshocks and make the necessary changes in the MoVal to make it stronger BEFORE it loses CU and possibly WSU. I can't ever figure out what ADES thinks with regard to positioning WSU. He either has a solid plan up his sleeve or absolutely nothing. Here's hoping for a solid plan up his sleeve. I certainly feel better having Bardo in charge. I think he feels more pride towards WSU athletics regardless of how subjective that may be.

Expansion fallout. Apparently some schools have outs in their contracts if the BE doens't live upto expectations financially.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

If the BE loses UConn and Rutgers and then maybe even L'ville and Cinci, or perhaps Memphis?, they could be in trouble. They've already been cast aside in football and basketball would take a hit. They'd still have some players, but they'd be looking to replace these teams with the likes of UMass, ECU and Tulsa, maybe trying to attack the A10 and get a Xavier, Dayton, Butler or even SLU. Not bad programs but not quite matching what they'd be losing.
If they did take two or three from the A10, who knows what would happen. Sadly for us though, Their most likely choices come from the western teams. Now, if the A10 lost UMass, Xavier and Dayton, maybe we become more attractive to Butler and even SLU. Or if Dayton got left behind maybe they'd think about moving over as well. I don't see the A10 taking a bunch of nonfootball schools thoughInfinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
