A wonderful and straight forward column by David Brooks about a speech by a British politician who may be the next PM. The message applies to our side of the pond and I hope is embraced by the left & right.

Could we import this fellow and install him as our "Save America Czar"? Would our Transformational, Majestic, Ordained One allow such a radical voice in his inner circle?
Or must we follow the Brits ignorantly and pay dearly like the Brits have and eventually figure it out 10 trillion wasted dollars later?
Speaking of Brits, let's review Maggie Thatcher's quip:
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

I'm sure the rich here are glad they aren't paying the same rates they pay in Britain.
Osborne declared that there would be no tax cuts any time soon. He said that as a matter of principle he believes that the top income tax rate of 50 percent is too high. But, he continued, “we cannot even think of abolishing the 50 percent rate in the rich” while others down the income scale are asked to scrimp.
