New U.N. resolution calls for nuclear-free world

UNITED NATIONS - With President Barack Obama presiding, the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved a resolution Thursday aimed at ridding the world of nuclear weapons.

Russia, China and developing nations supported the U.S.-sponsored measure, giving it global clout and strong political backing. The resolution calls for stepped up efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, promote disarmament and "reduce the risk of nuclear terrorism."
This would be nice if it could actually occur and we would all like to live in a nuclear-free world. But it would be like getting rid of guns. Only criminals would have guns.

Yeah, that horse left the barn over sixty years ago and has not been seen since. This is like a 70s or 80s lefty protest redux. What a waste of time, energy and diplomatic effort. This effort is meaningless.

How's it go? You can wish in one hand and crap in the other. See which one fills up first? Something to that effect.

Yeah, I'm totally pissed off now. I just applied for my permit that allows me to conceal and carry one personal nuclear weapon. Come on NOBAMA! Today I can't have a nuclear weapon, tomorrow you'll be telling me I can't keep the biological weapons kit I bought on e-bay. Obviously he's never read the second amendment, what an asshole.

Obama demands Iran open plant to inspectors

PITTSBURGH - President Barack Obama demanded Friday that Iran open up a previously covert nuclear fuel facility to international inspectors, saying "Iran is breaking rules that all nations must follow."

Hours later, Iran's nuclear chief confirmed the existence of a new plant, which he said was still under construction, and suggested that U.N. inspectors could be allowed to visit the facility.

Obama, flanked by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, said the site "deepens a growing concern" that Iran has failed to live up to its international obligations.

What is Obama going to do? Threaten to "think about" sanctions? Some other country will have to take the lead on this.

You complain about Obama trying to be too diplomatic, then he comes out and does this, and you criticize him for that?

I'm suppose to praise Obama for pointing out the Obvious? Iran is cheating? Is that a suprise?

There are plenty of reports out there that the Obama adminstration had no plans of going public with this latest cheating by Iran as they were trying to use it as leverage (probably for the Oct 1 meeting). It has only came up because Iran decides it is time for them to force the issue (by sending a letter to IAEA) to disrupt the U.S. leverage and now Iran has seized the initiative.

We continue to hear how Iran will be "held accountable" - but it rings hallow as the world has done nothing. The term "Obama the Impotent" continue to grow truer every day.

BTW, China has said it will not support sanctions.
