To get a feeling from the SN bunch before a decision is made, I'm wanting to know your opinion on splitting off a new Political forum. This poll will be open for one week. Thanks.

If you don't want to read about political subjects don't click the link."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."

I'm just sick of seeing the place littered with political junk. I figured after the election things would slowly calm down when, in fact, they've only gotten worse.
Please do us regular off-topic seekers a favor and let them have a place of their own.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

If politics is going to be discussed at all, then yes, put it in its own container. Personally, I think the site is walking a fine line discussing politics at all, given the high emotions that it generates, but there is that pesky first amendment thing we have to deal with.
Just keep in mind the University at any time could step in an enforce copyright protection should some of the political views or discourse go too far. The site doesn't have any problem limiting "adult" content or topics such as the "shocker" hand sign. I don't know why something as volatile as politics has to be accommodated... This is a sports forum after all....
My real vote would be to ban politics discussions altogether. There are plenty of sites to discuss the topic.Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

We're Shocker fans. This doesn't mean we have to agree politically. If politics is going to remain, it will eventually include the performance of the WSU academic administration and I don't think this is a good idea. Why not ban politics now? Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Makes perfect sense, if the political discourse isn't going the way we want it to then ban it.
There is a very fine line between "Off-Topic" and "Political" on so many issues it would be impossible differentiate between them. You would just create additional problems where none currently exist.
Just trying to seperate the two topics into their own forums will be a big headache and the cause of many discussions. I voted against.

Maybe all the sports related threads could be taken out of the Off-topic threads completely and given their own areas like Local Sports or Other Sports (anything that doesn't have anything to do with Shocker sports).
Local Sports could cover high schools, junior colleges, and state schools. Other Sports could cover the Chiefs, Royals, or other sports not related to any of the above.
I know there would be some crossover threads where you might discuss Wingnuts in Local Sports and also in Baseball because of former Shockers on the Wingnuts.
Just some thoughts.
