If you aren't paying close attention you'd think the photo above was taken during a Libtard protest. No, that's how enemies of the United States behave.

How is that your takeaway? Dems are going to win the popular vote by the largest margin since 2008. It's going to be a wider margin than years like '94 when Republicans had a huge red wave. How does that reflect well on Trump?

Republicans had a good night. I think it's clear Democrats have made very little progress appealing to people outside of urban areas. Gerrymandering played a large part, but a big part of it is just that Democrats aren't very appealing to rural folks right now. Because the Senate gives a lot more power to small states, Democrats are going to keep getting beaten until they change their strategy. Donnelly had a really rough night. McCaskill lost by more than anticipated, but it was always a toss-up.

But yeah, not Trump kicking ass by any means. Republicans had three times the number of seats available to flip in the Senate. Yet somehow, Trump's propaganda machine (literally state sponsored media at this point by inviting Hannity on stage at his rally) will say this was some big referendum on Trump that went his way. All while losing the House and a ton of governorships.

              5 Questions:
              1) Why is the Democratic Party not as appealing in rural areas?
              2) Why is the Democratic Party more appealing in urban areas?
              3) Does the Democratic Party have a propaganda machine?
              4) How does it appear Trump faired in his first midterm results compared to other Republican Presidents?
              4) How did your predictions on election night turn out?

              @ShockTalk

              1) I've wondered that, and I think it certainly has less to do with policy and more to do with the appealability of the particular candidates. Open to other interpretations, though. I don't think there is evidence to suggest rural areas are actually better off under republican leadership. If anything, farm subsidies and social service programs from Dems should benefit many rural people.
              2) Same as above, I'd wager. More "elitism" in cities, maybe? Rural areas tend to be less diverse. In cities, we're a little more offended by a governor candidate saying their pick up is for "rounding up illegals." Non-coastal areas don't care about environmental issues as much, which is certainly a big issue for many democratic voters.
              3) Certainly not state-sponsored. I've never heard of a perceived liberal journalist appearing alongside a candidate at a political rally. Yeah, there are definitely institutions out there that are more left leaning. I'm a broken record at this point, but it's just crazy to act like true journalistic institutions such as the NYT or WaPo are left-leaning to the same extent as Fox. Maybe they're left-leaning, but it's not particularly close.
              4) I guess about the same? I dunno. What do you think? House was rough for the GOP, popular vote was rough for the GOP, governships were rough for the GOP. Republicans had a good night in the Senate. I'm not sure I'm aware of another time where one party had 3x the number of seats to defend as the other side.
              5) I think I said 230+ in the House. They'll probably get somewhat close to that if not right at 230. I said 51 GOP in the Senate. As currently situated, it looks like they'll probably hit 54. 51 was always a stretch because 50 was very unlikely. 51-53 made a lot of sense. Indiana and Florida both going against Dems is the big surprise. Definitely underestimated those. Beto came within 3 points. I was definitely wrong about Kobach, but that's certainly not a mark in favor of Trump.

You can only call it kicking ass if you wanna purely stick your head in the sand and celebrate flipping Democratic seats in really red states that voted heavily for Trump in 2016. If you actually take a look at the results though, it has to be concerning for him. 1. He resoundingly got his ass kicked in the suburbs. 2. And this is the big one: he was resoundingly rejected in the 3 states that won him the presidency by a combined 75k votes. Wisconsin and Michigan both flipped governor. Republican GOP house candidates in Wisconsin did get about 113K more votes than Dems, buuuut that includes no votes from Wisconsin 2 which was an uncontested Democratic win, and went +38 in 2016 so that race alone will gobble up that margin and then some. In Michigan Democratic House candidates won by more than 240K votes, that's incredible. In Penn Dems won house vote by 300k, oh and that's without district 18... Which was an uncontested Democratic win. Oh and all 3 re-elected Democratic incumbent Senators by a comfortable margin. So yeah Donnie kicked ass.

Also you see what you wanna see. There are definitely people on the right who are GOPers but wanna pretend they aren't aligned with some of their more terrible stances.

Give me two posts of yours on SN that are personally supportive of a GOP position.

Really, I don't care what your views are either way, it's just some strange level of cognitive dissonance. JD is openly a dem, which is fine in and of itself, and fits his posting history and his generally well-defended positions. If JD did all of that yet said "but guys I'm really not a dem" we'd all laugh, right?

Well given that I've only started posting on politics in the past two years, when the GOP has pivoted you won't find much. The GOP has strictly become guns, no abortions, no immigrants, and cut taxes fiscal responsibility be damned. Also you comment on this post, which is not a pro Dem post. It's literally an analysis of concerning things for Trump. I GUARANTEE his 2020 team right now is looking at these numbers I just mentioned and is more than a little anxious. These are bad news for him. That's not politics. That's fact.

          • Let me clue you libs in. Some of you are so thick.

What happened last night is what always happens after 2 years. That is wasn't a blue wave IS THE NEWS. People that can think for themselves have been telling you for years our country is tipping the wrong way with more takers than givers. It keeps getting worse. That the GOP wasn't trounced, given an unpopular President and a media that is far more left leaning than ever is a surprise. And did I hear correctly, did the Dems flip the Senate in New York? Are you touting that as a big win? Or that Kansas, who hasn't elected back to back GOP Gov in about 70 years or so passed on Kobach? Or Wisconsin, with 2 areas of the most socialist wackos in the country narrowly defeated a Gov whom the DNC has spent millions upon millions trying to get for the last decade? And this "popular" vote number...whatever. Just people with their hands out that aren't part of any solution.

And yes, the growing number of those people, combined with the state sponsored education system and bloated government that makes people believe things are better their way than they really are IS a problem for the GOP. But geez, some of you are thick to what's going on. It's a crappy way to live with your head stuck up Rachel Maddow's ass. In more way than one.

              1. Unclear as to what you mean about a New York senate seat. Dems flipped Nevada.
              2. This post--along with the vast majority of posts on here--continue to highlight the divide in our country. No real substantive conversation. No civil conversation. Just shouting into the void about "socialist wackos" and "people with their hands out." It's just sad.

I agree with you! I hate that we spend pages debating who won and by how much. Who cares! Let's fix problems. But nobody wants to talk about broken social security, the collapse of the family unit and massive overspending. All REAL problems, all deeply in need of fixing.

We talk about skin color, gender identity and 1 off insanity caused tragedies. Because THAT'S what the mainstream media and lefties want to talk about and divide our country in pockets of victims AND right leaders don't have the guts to shut down.

          • The majority of the "mainstream media" (however one defines that term) are left-leaning at a minimum. Many of the big names (CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WP) are as far left as Fox is right, yet combined they occupy with clear and total plurality the nation's media class. As a majority, they have united to more-or-less assist the left with development of popular opinion and personal ideology. Even moreso, the public education system has stepped in to do the same during the formative years of human development. Not at all levels (much like the media), but absolutely in secondary education anywhere near a population center.

This isn't black helicopter stuff, just reality. When Airbus manufactures an airliner, it's clearly and intentionally an Airbus product, not a Boeing one, right? In much the same, the public education system and the mainstream media have created their product on an individual level, it just so happens to have a heartbeat and a soul as opposed to collection of aluminum with a serial number.

            • Looks to me like both sides should be relatively happy. The Dems and the house can be the young hip idealistic college kids.

The Senate can be the fuddy duddies.

And Trump can be the crazy rich uncle.

He did very, Very well especially when you consider he is the greatest Liberal troll the world has ever known. That party has been white hot with rage for the last two years. Trump gets to continue to be Trump suffering only tiny paper cuts the rest of the way which may do more to draw sympathy than to slow his agenda. Getting the Florida Governorship was huge for 2020.

We had to have done well last night, why else would 'Crazy and JD be so salty?

The Dems were expecting to make a statement last night and all they managed to do was show they were still out of touch with the WORKING American public. I mean, you're going to run on BumCare? BUMCARE? When premiums are through the roof? ROFL! The only people enjoying BumCare are the poverty stricken who get it for free. Those voters are driven to the polls in convoys of buses. So out of touch with the working America public...

She got accosted when she went for the mic. That was a pretty physical move. It's best to give Libtard media members a wide berth when they are engaging The Donald. They get so excited and frothy they're liable to do anything. It's almost like a mating dance. The MSM are so far up DJT's ass they don't know which side is up.
